Request to those people looking for tactical advice.
Over the last few months I've felt there's been something of a proliferation of "how do you beat X with Y" posts. To my mind, at least, It's a little frustrating to see these posts for several reasons:
(a) If you're only after quick tips, I guarantee the tips will be available on a search
(b) If you're after more specific advice, then it's difficult for posters to give you accurate information if you only ask in very vague terms. You end up getting vague advice back and, really, no-one ends up learning anything new.
(c) It makes you sound like a 13 year old looking for the cheat codes for their latest game.
It is far more helpful to talk in specifics about what problems you have with the game. Even if you're up against a type of player for the first time, tell us as much as you can about it - What kind of team, what style of play you both adopt, what rules you are using etc. Even having said that, you will get far, far more useful advice with a post that says "I got beaten by a Dwarf coach - the game went like this" than you will with a post asking "How do I beat Dwarves".
Sorry to come off like a helpdesk operator but there have been a large number of very general queries of late which have resulted in a lot of very general answers. The more in-depth discussion we can provoke the better for everyone in the long run.
Rant Over, I'll get me coat.

IMO the veteran players should be the ones in charge of helping out the rookie players here. That means cutting and pasting the content rather than simply pointing them to it. If a new thread gets started, great. There's probably something missing from the old content anyway.

The original point wasn't "go use the search engine" it was "try to phrase your questions a little more specifically than (for example) 'how do I beat dwarves with amazons?'"
There were a lot of those kind of posts at the time and a lot of the veteran players got tired of answering them to the point that the answers came off quite flippantly or not at all.
Far better to ask specific questions or ask for post-match analysis than it is to ask the forum to write your game strategy for you.
