Extremely picky handicap question:

Post by Skummy »

Last night, I rolled "Buzzing" as my handicap, and promplty gave it to the Troll on my Orc team. It seems fairly clear that the intent of the handicap is to keep the player using it from handling the ball, but nowhere in the description does it say that they cannot pass or throw teammate. Is this a case that needs rules tightening, or should passes be allowed?

Well... the rules says he automatically fails if he attemps to catch or pick up the ball...
Nothing about picking team mates or throwing them! That's sure.!!..

As I play with goblins I would he can throw them at will!!!...

On the other hand the "spirit of the rule" really appears to be no ball handling, wich conceivable can include team mates...

My last word is: a team mate is significantly bigger than the ball, and will help when being picked up.... and if they wanted to inlcued that in the rule they would have done so, it would be easy....

I wouldn't have too much of a problem with it, most handicap results aren't that good and that Troll should be bashing people anyway.

i think the key here is that they fail any attempt to pick up the ball. in the case of a TTM, your troll is picking up a goblin. regardless of whether that particular stunty is carrying the ball, the troll doesnt touch it. i find no problems w/ you doing a TTM w/ that player, and i seriously doubt anyone would.

Don't add unnecessary compications

I think we need to read the handicap rules as they are written unless something is so obvious that it must have been intended.

For example the Buzzing player should be able to receive the ball on a touchback because there is no roll to catch the ball. Presumably it is carefull placed in his hands. So he could then handoff or pass the ball if necessary.
