Hi Guys,
I made my pitch with 40mm squares(the GW minis are so big now, I thought
it would look better).
I made the pass template based on diagrams in the book( the first 3
ranges seemed to be 3 1/2 squares long, & long bomb seemed a bit smaller
so I made it 3 squares) -- the "overlap" seemed to be 1/4 of a square.
Is this right?
I am going to try to make a better template out of clear plastic(the
other is just cardboard & I juts want to get it right.

Don't forget to make it wider too.
You increased the size of the squares by roughtly 60%. I say roughly because the squares on the official pitch aren't uniform in size.
All you need to do now, is multiply everything on the range ruler by 1.6 to get your dimensions correct.
Let us know how it comes out. I was thinking of doing this too till I found 2nd ed Big Guys. They fit on 25mm bases and don't take up so much room when they go prone.
