Diving Catch and a kick

I was wondering that is it possible to use diving catch for a kicked ball.

Lets say a kick was made and the ball scatters to a player (with dc). The player tries to catch the ball but doesn't succeed. Ok, then the ball scatters. Can the player (with diving catch) catch the ball?

Or is the skill only usable with thrown ball?

diving catch: the player may use this skill if the ball was thrown to him and missed.

it means that it is during a pass action, which is not the case with kick.

Right, diving catch only applies after an inaccurate pass to that specific player. So it cannot even be used, if the pass was aimed at the players next to the diving catcher, in case he fails to catch...
