Chaos Warrior Doubles ... difficult choice!

Post by Tim »

One of my CWs rolled a double for his second skill yesterday. He already has Block.

The rest of the team is: 1CW Block, 2CW nothing, 1 Beast Block/Claw, 2 Beast Surehands, 1 Beast Kick, 3 Beast Block, 3 Beast nothing, 1 Orge nothing, 3 RR (missing 10k for 4th), 11FF.

Now as usual i'm tempted by the mutation category and Claw/RSF might be the easiest pick, but what do you think?

RSF then Piling On to make him a cas monster (but begging for fouls)?
Claw, then MB or RSF on doubles to make him a harder to kill cas monster?
Tentacles to chain to catcher and blitzer types and tie them up (50% vs. STR3, 66% vs. STR2). Followed by tackle and/or MB, maybe PassBlock?

Or regular traits:
Frenzy for 2 block chances vs. STR3 or lower? Needs a second double to be sideline-safe though.
Standfirm, then Guard for a defensive Tower?
Dodge, then Sure Hands for a Ball Carrier that's hard as a rock (But quite slow)?
Leader for the Orge?

We have several teams in the league, but main opponents are Orcs, Norse and Lizards. Undead and some Elves have just started and might be an opposition in about 5 games.

Dont forget foul appearance, very handy if u end up with 2 of them, pisses the elves off.

Wouldn't that be more of a Beastman skill as the additional strength of a CW does not help that much to boost Foul Appearance while the additional movment of a Beastman helps to get the skill where it is useful?

Foul Appearence for me

saying its a beastman skill is misguided

a lot of elf teams keep the thrower deep run up and pass/handoff to an elf in the middle who then runs and hands off passes to an elf who runs in for the touchdown

having a chaos warrior with foul appearence in the middle of the park will make this more differcult, also the 1 in 6 times that he gets blocked and they roll a 1 can sometimes really mess up assists for the next block they were planning

the other choice for me would be stand firm then guard for obvious reasons

what does the rest of your team look like?
what is your playing style?

Do you want to build a casualty machine (because you don't really need him for your usual tactic) i would go RSC, with Piling on or Claw to follow.

Do you feel there are allways too many standing people around your cage, i think claw is a good choice.

Do you like him to be disruptive (and a bit reactive instead of active) foul apprearance is a good choice (not my style)

And i think dodge surehands is cool too

Claw is my choice i'ld say,

If you've got a specific Choas God in mind this is a good article to tailor your team to that power.

http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/La ... ture3.html

With my Tzeentch Chargers, all four CW have Block, one has a claw and another has VLL and Break Tackle (he's the star of the league so far).

For out and out hurting people, take Claw or RSC (or end up with a Razor Sharpened Claw :o )

Razor Sharp Fangs, Tentacles or Foul Appearance.
As you don´t play so much against passing teams yet i would say Razor sharp fangs to take out those skinks and norse blitzers more effective.

I went with razor sharp fangs on the poll add MB on his next skill and he will be a great player, I think as a Chaos team the whole point of BB is to kill/maim, not accualy be good at the game, leave that to tastie elves

If you don't want Claw/RSF then, IMO its either Stand Firm or Frenzy.

However I don't see any point not taking them at this stage - for your 2nd or 3rd CW maybe.

I'm impressed by the result of this vote ...

Guess i'll go for RSF then with the options of Claw (doubles) or MB or Piling On for the next skill.

Tentacles would have been my second favorite, i wonder that it only got one vote. Maybe the skill is still to weak and you should be able to hold an opponent at STR+D6 even as well? Hmm, i just realized that a Mino would have been better for that team maybe ... Tentacles on a Mino ... that's a backfield guard!

I voted for Claw, getting players off the pitch always comes before actually slaying them, In my opinion.

In my chaos team I went with RSC and it was definately the right decision.
I realized in many games I played that if you are outnumbered with a chaos team (which can happen, even against a skaven team!) you have no chance to win.
The advantage of chaos is to get into a position where you have more players than your opponent. This doesn´t mean you shouldn´t play running or even passing game but this all is easier if you have more players.

And the best way to get into this situation is a CW with block, piling on and RSC (or Claw and RSC if your lucky!)
