FF = Cheerleaders & Coaches

Post by Mo »

I'm strongly leaning towards consoladating FF with Cheerleaders and Assistant Coaches. For each FF purchased, you can choose one of the above figures to add to the team at no extra cost.

Especially for once-off and short tourney/league games, this should add more flavour.

Has anyone else tried something like this?

I alway thought of FF as an investment in advertisement and such to gather fans (becoming more or less effective as you win or loose).

Thats the way I read it!! More out of game fan factor!

It was definitely intended originally as out-of-game fan support.

But the way it is implemented, it is much more important than cheerleaders or coaches. Cheerleaders and coaches = cool fun figures. FF does not.

I don't mind the FF mechanics, but I want the important rules of a miniatures game to involve miniatures. (A complete non-issue for computer players.)

Since buying the off-field staff is pretty much an after-thought to the way players develop their teams, why not roll them all together with FF so that every team gets to use cheerleaders and coaches?

I actually find it surprising that GW has let these rules develop in a way that doesn't encourage the purchase of figures. They're slipping.

I use all my coaching staff & cheerleader models in place of reroll markers, and the score & turn counters.

That way they are involved and make the game look prettier without having to house rule anything.

The gamestile alone should encourage you to buy miniatures, not the rules.

consider using the Crowd Effect Modifier rule:
compare gate rolls- +1 CEM to higher gate, +2 if doubled.
Anywhere in Kickoff table that says FF now is replaced with CEM.

Now it is valuable to buy cheerleaders...or at least semi worthwhile. :)
