I'm strongly leaning towards consoladating FF with Cheerleaders and Assistant Coaches. For each FF purchased, you can choose one of the above figures to add to the team at no extra cost.
Especially for once-off and short tourney/league games, this should add more flavour.
Has anyone else tried something like this?
FF = Cheerleaders & Coaches

Thats the way I read it!! More out of game fan factor!Loewenklaue wrote:I alway thought of FF as an investment in advertisement and such to gather fans (becoming more or less effective as you win or loose).

It was definitely intended originally as out-of-game fan support.
But the way it is implemented, it is much more important than cheerleaders or coaches. Cheerleaders and coaches = cool fun figures. FF does not.
I don't mind the FF mechanics, but I want the important rules of a miniatures game to involve miniatures. (A complete non-issue for computer players.)
Since buying the off-field staff is pretty much an after-thought to the way players develop their teams, why not roll them all together with FF so that every team gets to use cheerleaders and coaches?
I actually find it surprising that GW has let these rules develop in a way that doesn't encourage the purchase of figures. They're slipping.

consider using the Crowd Effect Modifier rule:Mo wrote: But the way it is implemented, it is much more important than cheerleaders or coaches. Cheerleaders and coaches = cool fun figures. FF does not.
compare gate rolls- +1 CEM to higher gate, +2 if doubled.
Anywhere in Kickoff table that says FF now is replaced with CEM.
Now it is valuable to buy cheerleaders...or at least semi worthwhile.
