Do you play with vamps (or against them often)? I am just in the planning stage for this team so any advise is welcome....
I have played vampires in the MBBL. Currently they are retired. I was waiting for the spiraling expenses to drop to the LRB5.0 levels. And thinking of starting over again any-way.

All your points are valid, I am working on the angle that Vamp teams lose thralls to their own players often ( havent played with/against them) so thinking that W/A would protect them.
1. That has been fixed already.
2. Even if you hadn't. I feel that W/A would shackle your Vampires so much all you'll do is lose thralls or vampires to your opponent instead of yourself due to isolation and bad positioning. Frankly, i'd rather choose which of my players is going to be lost than my opponent.
-Recall that even a prone or stunned thrall can be bitten.
The 2nd and 3rd point are based on the ability to reach a thrall and bite, if not he is removed for the rest of the drive (no 4+ roll required to move, hes off) and its a turnover..
Technically, the 2nd point is, but the 3rd is not. Yes to gain benefit from moving after failing I have to reach and bite a thrall. But no, I do not have to reach and bite a thrall to gaze an opponents player. And yes you do have vampires leave the pitch on occasion. I've done it by choice and by failing rolls on my way to a thrall. Still. We're back to 2+ to fail in the first place vs 4+. It's 44.44% to make two 2+ rolls (with no re-rolls used). Which is is one dodge included in the package. Your 4+ is only 50%. Things only get better when I add Pro, or use a team re-roll of which I carry lots. I fail to see the major improvement here. Getting to use my gaze -even sometimes- is better I think.
Have just got the BBRC rules review which seem to protect the Thralls from dying, so that would seem to be an improvement.
Bingo. As already stated above by the esteemed Darkson, and myself.
I will add actually that the dying wasn't so bad, - compared to the amount of reductions and niggles I also suffered on thralls. Perfectly good thralls reduced... It got expensive to replace them [coupled with the high SE levels]
If you could fix it now which way would you go? More MA would give a better chance of reaching a Thrall, (who now wont die) Just miss the rest of the game. Would you alter the Vamps cost? 110K for 7448 even with a negatrait would seem a bargain...
Fix what? I think I've been sidetracked off the real question.
Make the team tier one?
While I agree that while game mechanically it makes sense to have tiers of teams, and I support that point whole heartedly- I do see and agree that it SUCKS to have "your race" be the one that has been set as the poor team for what looks like no reason. To some people , its about the models and the fluff and the game. And wanting to have a team of the hobbits (or Ogres or Vamps) for personal reasons and wanting to have a viable blood bowl team isn't wrong. it would be much better in my opinion (perfect world thing here) is that either each race would come with tiers of teams so players could play thier chosen figs at the chosen level of challenge they want.
Or 2. That the rules of "What you see is what you get" could be relaxed just a little bit so that the figs that are infact halfling figs could be acepted as players on the pitch of lets say a Wood Elf team. If the coach liked them better. -Note. I don't think Blood Bowl will ever get to either of these points, but I did say "perfect world"...
