apothecary

Post by elirresistiblo »

Hi everybody!
i just have one silly question about a point i can't get:

why can we use the apothecary on a player injured by KO12 pitch invasion and not when a player is pushed into the public.

I mean, whether the public is on the pitch or outside does not change anything (IMO) cos the apothecary can't get to the player and heal him.

I'm sorry to bother you with such a trivial point, but i think it is inconsistent to handle the two points in different ways..

Thanks for your help...

I guess fluff wise, the rule represents the pitch invasion being short lived and temporary with the player being left for dead on the field THEN the apoth getting there.

As for getting pushed into the crowd, to send an apothecary there would be like going directly into the lion's den.

It is because of the sentence: ".. leave the player on the field face up".
It would create much confusion towards being pushed into the crowd, and then claiming that the player can re-enter the field thanks to the apothecary.

I would like to see the apoth changed so that you can heal cowd injuries and that all players that are healed do NOT remain on the filed but rather go to the reserve box.

i want it to stay as it is

the last time i had a player pushed into the crowd was when i put him there as bait so someone else didn't get blitzed

you don't have to stand on the sideline

I want it changed more for the fact that I think it makes more since having the player carted back to the dugout and worked on there by the apoth. I also don't think a player who was Seriously Injured or Killed should be left on the field face up. It should take some time to recover. I think the other coach should at least get the player off the field for causing an injury.

If you take the player off the pitch you lose the tactical option to use the apothecary on a stunned or KO'd guy needed for a critical play.

Granted it does not happen often but I have seen it happen at the end of games before.

I wouldn't really mind losing that option I have only seen it used that way a couple of times.

I like the apoth as he is now, but wouldn't really mind the changes. I need to say I like the tactical option of apo-ing a KO or even stunned result. It's too much fun to do that and consequently roll a '1' as I allways do when using an Apo...

We changed it as a house rule:
An Apo can t cure a crowd injury. Of course he can heal a Rock throw...but not a pitch invasion or a pushed into the crowd.
He think that the Apo is not a dead lover and he dont want to sacrifice himself by going into the crowd.

In the ECBBL, we have modified the apothecary rules to allow the healing of crowd injuries, but the player pushed in the crowd finds himself in the 'reserves' box.

You didnt change the rules about Apo for crowd injuries (for the moment you can do it).

But What about you pushed...dont you roll any injury roll?

ECBBL house rule is that the Apoth can be used on any injury - including ones from crowd surfing. Healed players from crowd surfing are placed in the reserves box.

Otherwise apoths as normal.

We do like Ian Williams said. We think it's fairer that way.
