But somewhere else in the rules, it said that you always made an armour roll when going prone. Granted, it's confusing to have to read rules in two different places to find out just one thing, but that's Games Workshop...

I had to argue, and argue, and argue with my league to get them to accept that very point! And at the time I had the ONLY one turner in the league, and I relied on that to help me make my point.

It's the way you read the rules:

You quoted:

...On a roll of 1 the player trips up and falls prone...

In LRB p.12 it reads:

Unless the rules state otherwise, any player that is knocked or falls over may be injured.

So if falls prone is the same as falls over then you have to make an armour roll.
