I like the 40k idea... it's a laugh, even if the background just wouldn't work. You don't need to write up a whole new rules system, just modify the BB rules to encompass the kind of stuff Dark Lord was talking about. Add a little stuff, it'd be fun. I think I might try it out sometime.

I agree, I'd be down with 40K Blood Bowl. I remember seeing a post on it on the Fanatic Blood Bowl site once, I think I might still have those rules around somewhere... if I find them, I'll let you all know.

If I had the time or ambition BB40K would be the best place to test my "Blood Bowl should use D10" theory. This would allow super charged Space Marines, Ork Nobz, Tyrinnid creations etc.

It could be like BBX

Okay, I found those rules. Just remember, I didn't write these (though I don't have the name of the author). ;)

Code: Select all

IMPERIAL GUARD
The basis for all other forces, the Imperial Guard teams form from amatuer Bloodbowl teams on every world in the Imperium. All otehr teams are judged by how well they perform against the 'Lowly Guardsman', who, when backed by the full might of the Imperium, is equally adept at a blizkreig offense and an iron-line defense, with a powerful running game and a long passing game. The bench of any Guard team is deep, and the Commisar-Coaches accept little failure.

0-12 Guardsmen ** 50K ** MV: 6, Str: 3, Agl: 3, AV:, 8
0-4 Stormtroopers ** 70K ** MV: 6, Str: 3, Agl: 3, AV: 9, Block
0-2 Officers ** 70K ** MV: 6, Str: 3, Agl: 3, AV: 8, Pass, Sure Hands
0-2 Ratlings ** 30K ** MV: 4, Str: 2, Agl: 3, AV: 6, Stunty, Dodge
0-2 Ogryn ** 100K ** MV: 4, Str 5, Agl: 2, AV: 9, Bonehead, Mighty Blow

Team Rerolls: 50K
Guardsmen get General skills
Stormtroopers get General or Strength skills
Officers get General or Passing skills
Ratlings get Agility skills
Ogryn are Big Guys who get General or Strength skills

****************************************************************

SPACE MARINES
The elite of the Empire, the Space Marines have seen a small subculture of Bloodbowl popularity develop, and, after witnessing the sucess of the Fenrisian Timberwolves in the inaugural season, other chapters allowed a handful of their marines to drift into the arena of play. The Ultramarines in particular have taken to it, modernizing the classic rules set passed down for generations into the Codex Bloodbowl, the definitive rule set which is now followed across the league. Several commanders are finding that experienced Bloodbowl Marines make natural Assault Marines when their training is completed, and more chapters are sending men every year.

0-12 Scouts ** 70K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 3, AV: 8, Dodge
0-6 Tactical ** 80K ** MV: 5, Str: 4, Agl: 3, AV: 9
0-2 Assault ** 120K ** MV: 7, Str: 4, Agl: 3, AV: 9, Block
0-2 Devastator ** 100K ** MV: 5, Str: 4, Agl: 3, AV: 9, Pass, Sure Hands

Team Rerolls: 70K

Scouts may take General skills
Tacticals may take General skills
Assaults may take General and Strength skills
Devastators may take General and Passing skills

****************************************************************

CHAOS UNDIVIDED
The ancient art of Bloodbowl has been preserved amoung the Daemons of the Warp since the ancient days, and has often been used to settle conflicts between the capriscious Chaos Gods when a simple exchange of power was uncalled for. The Imperium has hosted games featuring the Chaos forces, under tight Inquisitorial oversight, under the thought that, by seeing the oldest threat to Humanity defeated, it serves to strengthen their faith in the Emperor, and prove that the path of Chaos is weak. Several fanclubs of Chaos teams are under watch, in fear that they will turn to cults, but, the Inquisition assures the High Lords of Terra that this will be no problem.

0-12 Cultists ** 40K ** MV: 6, Str: 3, Ag: 3, AV: 7
0-6 Marines ** 80K ** MV: 5, Str: 4, Ag: 3, AV: 9
0-2 Raptors ** 120K** MV: 7, Str: 4, Ag: 3, AV: 9, Block
0-2 Havoks ** 100K ** MV: 5, Str: 4, Ag: 3, AV: 9, Pass, Sure Hands

Team Rerolls: 70K

Cultists may take General skills
Chaos Marines may take General skills
Raptors may take General or Strength skills
Havoks may take General or Passing skills

On a double, any Chaos Undivided player may take a Mutation instead of a skill.

****************************************************************

ORKS
Perhaps no team took to the Bloodbowl leagues quite so swiftly as the Orks. A scrum in the middle of a field, tossing a Squig about, while you pummel someone into paste? Sounds like a normal day at the Kamp! Teams of Orks are currently in a debate, after losing the first championship game to the Fenrisian Timberwolves in a close matchup ... some feel that a Gork approach with a powerful running game could have powered through, while others are certain the a Mork approach passing game, with plenty of Dirty Tricks, would have confused the berserkers and lead to a victory.

0-12 Slugga Boy ** 50K ** MV: 5, Str: 3, Ag: 3, AV: 9
0-2 Shoota Boys ** 70K ** MV; 5, Str: 3, Ag: 3, AV: 9, Pass, Sure Hands
0-4 Skar Boy ** 90K ** MV: 5, Str: 4, Ag: 3, AV: 9, Block
0-4 Grots ** 30K ** MV: 6, Str: 2, Ag: 3, AV: 6, Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff

Team Rerolls: 60K

Slugga Boys may take General skills
Shoota Boys may take General and Passing skills
Skar Boys may take General or Strength skills
Grots may take Agility skills

ELDAR
Despite the usual graceful and calm demeanour that the Eldar love to show, the truth is that, before the Fall, Bloodbowl was easily the most popular in all of the Eldar pantheon of sports. The Path of the Athelete largely fell out of favor amoung the Eldar after the birth of Slaanesh, but never completely vanished. Now, with the re-introduction of Bloodbowl along the Telepathic beacons of the Imperium, the Craftworlds have found these old feelings re-awakened, and Aspect Temples to Lombard'i, the first Exarch of Bloodbowl, have been reopened. The Eldar appreciate a more refined game, with many plays taken to the air, over an ugly, closely fought ground game, but there are execptions, as the Striking Scorpions are only too happy to illustrate.

0-12 Guardians ** 50K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 4, Av: 7
0-6 Dire Avengers ** 80K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 4, AV: 8
0-4 Striking Scorpions ** 100K ** MV: 6, Str: 3, Agl: 4, AV: 9, Block
0-2 Howling Banshee ** 100K ** MV: 8, Str: 3, Agl: 4, Av: 8, Dodge
0-1 Exarch ** 120K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 4, Av: 9, Pass, Sure Hands

Team Rerolls: 60K

Guardians may take Agility skills
Dire Avengers may take General or Agility skills
Striking Scorpions may take General or Strength skills
Howling Banshees may take General or Agility skills
Exarchs may take General, Agility, or Passing skills

****************************************************************

DARK ELDAR
Like their brother Eldar, the Dark Eldar follow the game of Bloodbowl with great passion. Unlike their brothers, however, they are just as happy, if not moreso, to see bloodflow and agony on the field as they are to see a scoring drive, and games have been held in their gladitorial arenas for longer than Man has known the Emperor's divine light. To see the game that they cherish so much spread across the universe fills them with glee, and they know that soon blood will flow on the field of play. The victory of thrills, the victory of agony.

0-12 Warriors ** 80K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 4, Av: 8
0-4 Wyches ** 100K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 4, AV 7, Dodge, Frenzy
0-2 Incubi ** 100K ** MV: 6, Str 3, Agl: 4, AV: 9, Block
0-2 Sybarites ** 100K ** MV: 7, Str: 3, Agl: 4, AV: 8, Pass, Sure Hands

Team Rerolls: 60K

Warriors may take General or Agility skills
Wyches may take General or Agility skills
Incubi may take General or Strength skills
Sybarites may take General, Agility, or Passing skills

i say why the shizzle not give it a try? personally, and i'm certain someone out there is going to end my weak existance for saying this, but i would PREFER a 40K BB game over fantasy anyday. i HATE WHFB for excluding greeks and trebuchets (c'mon, how can it be ye old without these things??) and have always like 40k more. i'd love to see it be official, though i know it will never ever ever happen

last thought, the major problem i'd see in it is how 40K is almost too serious to where football between waring races woudl seem silly, but thats my only reserves

It's really not any sillier than all the races in WHFB playing football together.

Personally, I think its a stoopid idea. Besides you would never get a 'proper' league off the ground bif enough to make it worth your while converting all those models...

But if you are interested, GW did their own version of 40K BB at a Games Day a few years ago. They converted up all the teams, but used the existing team lists. So eldar as high elves, with swooping hawks catchers etc. Using the existing team lists would be the ONLY possible way of making it even remotely balanced.

Still think it is a daft idea. Although not as daft as when I wrote a 20+ page rule set for NecromundaBowl....
