sounds like a real easy q right? ok hold on to your seat

the rules in the box set are in fact 3rd edition. 4th edition was in existence for a few months but now no longer exists because the vast majority of ppl hated it (self included)

now we play LRB Blood Bowl which stands for "Living Rule Book". It's called that because the rulebook is available free online, and is updated by a body known as the "BBRC"-Blood Bowl Rules Committee...a group of BB coaches like you and me who play the game, see what's wrong with it (if anything) and make appropriate adjustments. Many of them are on this message board.

the LRB is available on GW's website as a free pdf download. give it a read, it's (in most respects) the best edition of blood bowl ever.

hope that cleared things up...don't call it 4th ed tho, or people will run for cover. :)

4th edition was never in a box set, it was just a set of rules printed in BloodBowl Mag #1 (BBMag#1), and updated in BBMag #2. This set does not exist, never existed, and any attempt to say it did will mean GW sending the lawyers round :)

If you mean between the current version (known as LRB 2.0) and the 3rd ed, it was rules changes for skills and actions, post and pre-games. I think the biggest change was the scrapping onf the cards from Deathzone.

If you haven't got it, you can download the LRB from http://www.specialist-games.com/bloodbowl/resources.htm

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

The box set is exactly the same as the 3ed one except with the new BB hanbook. So if you download the LRB, you could buy a cheap 3ed set off ebay and would be ok.

The newest boxed set includes a rulebook that has LRB (1.3?) so you will have the most current rules. Or if you get the set with the 3rd editon rules you can just download the new one for free and have the same thing.

I believe that's exactly what I had said.

Just adding another point, the LRB is the most up to date, but the BB handbook in the latest box game isn't the same, so you would have to buy a BB 2003 Annual as well to be up to date completely (if you buy a new box set).
