Double for rookie saurus

Post by berserker »

Hi,

-I search and read the previous posts and the sticky- about that but I want a discussion if possible-

yesterday I started a Lizardmen team, since it is a short term team I went with
6 saurus
5 skinks
3 RR
4 FF

Usually I don't like starting with less than 7 FF but since it is a ream for a few games I needed raw power.

I played vs. rookie skavenwith rat ogre.

He killed a skink on his 1st turn, scored on the 2nd so I was a bit afraid...
Then I scored on turn 8, delaying the TD, killinig a linerat on the way (he failed the apo), 2nd half scored on turn 8 by playing on his RO who got him 4 turnovers (he kept puttin him back on his fett for some reason while 3 saurus were surrounding him, weird...)

So far so good...
Of course I rolled a 1 for the winnings so I have only 40k and can't buy the apo and I rolled a 2 for the FF while a 3 was enough to increase it :pissed:

The good part and my point is that 2 players got a skill

A saurus who rolled a double
A skink who rolled a simple skill...

I wish it was the opposite so I could take block/block or blok /sure hands...

Next games are vs Humans with ogre and dark elves

For the saurus I tought first stand firm or ignore the double and take block or break tackle... Now I torn between:

Leader
Stand firm
Frenzy
Block
Break tackle

I didn't tought about Leader directly but it struck me this morning as I seem to use those RR a lot with lizzies, both for blocks and ball handling and it helps the whole gang and not just him.

The skink will get side step altough I just tought that diving tackle could be a nice trick.

Any thought welcome

If you are going to get a Krox leader may be worth while, but my preference is for Frenzy - its very useful for pushing opponents off the board, gives you a 2nd shot against Block/Dodge players too, and means you've got a better chance of punching a hole for your skinks to rush through.

If you want a Blitzer-type, go Dodge. Combine that with Break Tackle for some real fun.

On top of that, who expects your S4, AG1 guy to have Dodge? Wait 'til you see your opponent's face when he blocks that one.

I built my lizard team by giving gurad as the first skill for 4 of my saurus. It works very well, I like that kind of team.. opponent has trouble having 2 dice block against me. And it makes it much more easier to give assists to skinks, who often find themself blocking with 2 dice in a melee!

So in that line of thought, if you want to try that type of team, I would suggest you take Stand Firm, with the idea of giving him Guard next. A saurus with Guard and Stand Firm would be hard to remove from a melee, so he can easily continue giving assists. And you can make him dodge into an adjecent square where an assist is much needed, so even if he fails his dodge (most certain), he wont fall, and will be able to give that assists, sometimes for many blocks.

Otherwise, I would go for frenzy.

Dont take block. Always take advantage of doubles.

I would go for Frenzy too...
I m playing Dark Elves, Dwarves an Norse. All this Teams have Frenzy players and i love it. Every Opponent fears frenzy players. Every coach will keep the side lines open. If you use it right, frenzy is a very powerfull skill. If you re not goin for frenzy then i would take stand firm and guard next...

He burned an apothecary on a linerat?
:puke:

Anyways, I would go with Stand Firm or Dodge. With Dodge, his next skill should be either Block or Break Tackle. With Stand Firm goes either Guard or Block for the next one. You gotta admit, a Guard, Stand Firm Saurii would be a royal pain in the arse to your opponent.

I played the second game yesterday vs Humans and won 2-1 (and 4-2 in cas...)

In the end I gave sidestep to the skink and Leader to the saurus after much hesitations, in fact minutes before playing, stand firm was still on the roster... But I didn't regret my decision as I burned my rerolls pretty fast (even tough my fans gave me one extra...)

So now I have
1 Saurus Leader
1 Saurus Skill --->Guard
4 Saurus
1 Skink sidestep
3 Skink of which one got a NIG and will thus miss the next game

3 RR + 1 from the Leader

The good thing is that I rolled a 6 and thus won 90k so I have 130K to spend and I have 2 options.
Either skink + apo + 20k reserve or Kroxigor

My next game is vs dark elves (2 blitzer have blodge and 1 linemen has guard). BTW the teams I play against are as old as mine as we started them togheter and play with a fixed schedule.

I played Lizzies in a 1.200k tournament before with 6 saurus, Krox, Silibili and 3 skinks. I feel and it served me well as I placed second.

I feel the more beef you have in this team the better, so I think I'll take the kroxigor (remember I have leader too), leaving me with 3 skinks without apo for the ball handling for this match wich is a bit risky. But with seven 4+ st guy your defence is very solid.

What would you do?
- skink + apo
- Kroxigor

You already have a lot of raw power with 6 saurus. I'd go with the skink and an apo ... those stunty players have a nasty habit of getting hurt ... and you're down to 4 skinks (3 for the next game) ... you have to protect them.
