Funny you should mention military ranks, as the rank depicted in my avatar has nothing to do with my actual military rank. I may be a militarist, but I'm not so full of it that I'd put my actual rank (2nd lieutenant) to some discussion board avatar (although the colours of the avatar are the colours of jaeger infantry to which I belong).

My avatar picture indeed has a Chief Warrant Officer-badge in it. In our badges, you can put a symbol above the badge to tell more precisely what you do. Examples include Sergeant (Technician), Warrant Officer(Pharmacy),Lance Corporal(Engineer),Corporal(Veterinary Corps) etc. So my avatar is trying to be the badge of "Chief Warrant Officer (Blood Bowl)". Chief Warrant Officer is the highest rank of non-commissioned officers around here.
Then why Chief warrant officer? Because I like that symbol (better than the single stripe of a 2nd lieutenant) and because that rank in finnish is "sotilasmestari", which conveniently transforms into BB Mestari with the BB ball placed above it. The reason I chose Mestari as a nickname (at certain other discussion board I was in a long time ago) in the first place was simply that I wanted to test the forums and couldn't come up with a name that I'd like. Consequently the nickname stuck.
