How to build up a human bashy team

Post by harley_topper »

I started a new human team and I want to play it different from my other humans (i played always the running game with some catchers and blitzers).

I started my team like this:

Ogre
4 blitzers
1 Thrower
1 Catcher
4 Lineman
2 RR
8 FF

I played the first match against some woodies and won 3 - 2 OT and I purchased an apothecary.
Two blitzers get a level up one rolled a double and one a normal skill.

I thouht about mighty blow for the normal skill to inflict more casualties.
But what about the double. Normally I would take dodge, but I want some different choices. I want to build a human team that plays a grinding game.

Hope you have some advices for me :)

Well, I guess you first have to figure out what skills would be useful for a grinding human team. Tackle, Mighty Blow, Guard, Piling On and Dirty Player all sound like they should be priorities. MB, PO and Guard can only be taken by the Blitzers and the Ogre on regular skills, but Guard is an anti combo with Piling On. Tackle and Dirty Player are lineman skills.

So my ideal skill progression for a bashy human roster would look something like:

Ogre: Piling On, Block, Tackle (Leader)
Blitzer A: Mighty Blow, Piling On, Tackle
Blitzer B: Guard, Tackle, Mighty Blow
Lineman A: Kick, Block (Dauntless/Leader)
Lineman B: Dirty Player, Block (Dauntless/Leader)
Lineman C: Block, Tackle (Dauntless/Leader)
Catcher A: Block, Sidestep, Diving Tackle, Shadowing (Dauntless)
Catcher B: Block, Pass Block, Sidestep (Dauntless)

I think that Dodge may still be the way to go for doubles on the blitzers, though. It gives them the ability to stay upright and hit things better.

For a bashy team, I'd prefer stand firm - allows you to hit back, or even use the player to occupy a 'push-back zone' and help you push a target out of the pitch without being pushed out yourself in return...

Take two Blitzers and go the PO-MB road, with Dodge or Stand Firm on DOubles;
Give PO to your Ogre before Block;
For your linemen, split your skill choice between Block and Tackle on the first skill, go with Guard on Doubles;
A few (1-2) Dirty Players and you're all set.

I once had a Piling ON, Mighty Blow, Tackle, Stand Firm Blitzer that was quite annoying!

I'd take Tackle for the normal skill (vital for dealing with Block/Dodge) and either Stand Firm, Leader or Frenzy for the double.

Well, since it is quite early in team development I think I would go with something like Frenzy for the double, followed perhaps by tackle on the next one (if a normal) and then using him for stopping opposing receivers.

short answer works like this skillwise:

blitzers: guard, mightyblow,standfirm, dodge on doubles
catchers: block, sidestep, dauntless on doubles
linemen: block, tackle, guard on doubles

of course a few of those linemen would take kick or leader or dirtyplayer or whatever.

generally good bashy team. the blitzers should be the focal point..score with them whenever you can...use them in many ways like orc blitzers.

with the catchers the more dauntless you get the better, but you can do ok without it too.
