Computergames
Ok, let's first tell how i got the idea:
I play darkelves....rolling 1's a lot doesn't make the game a fun one.
Especially if it is 5 turns in a row on your first action.
That got me thinking, if you could influence the dice so that during 1 game everybody throws more average than you could now...
I mean, i hate games in which I OR my opponent only throws 1's on their (first) actions. The same counts for 6's.
With regular dice this can't be done, but with computergames (suppose you like bb on your computer)....
I thought about this:
if you roll a 1, the next roll you make will have an altered chance model:
for instance:
1: 1/8=0.125
the rest: 7/8/5=0.175
or something like that...
or: everytime you roll x, the chance for x will go down with say.. 0.05...
and the rest of the numbers' chances will go up with 0.01...
This way your luck averages out better during a game.....
you can still have bad luck, or good luck, but not only of them during during your entire game.
(well it's still chances, so technically you could, but chances are better to avoid that)
What do you think? Or do you think one of the aspects of the game is luck, just live with it.
(i love chess, if i loose my opponent is better...nothing to do with luck)

well, i am talking about x really, that's everything from 1 to 6....Grumbledook wrote:thats all well and good but seeing as elves do a lot of stuff needing only a 2 and your have lowered the chances of rolling a 1 thats going to be rather unbalenced no?
So i only lower the chances of throwing a 1 when you already threw a 1.
If you have thrown three 6's in a row, chances are VERY slim that you throw another.
Haven't you ever played a game against elves and they only rolled 2+'s?
This method enhances the chances of throwing a 1 for those matches.

Nah, I like the luck aspect of games. Sure, I've been on the receiving end of some crappy sice rolls, but I've also been the recipient of so outrageously good ones (like my gobbo BH a treeman
).
Keep it the way it is.

Nuffle may have helped you out there.
Nuffle didn't do jack!! Thaat was down to merticlous planning, great coaching, and saving up my only 2 good dice rolls in the game. Be damned if I praise Nuffle for sitting on his fat arse while my players do the hard work
