Dauntless for a LineOrc?
Well? Is it worth it and if not what else should an undeveloped Line-Orc with a double take? This is NOT a starting team so I don't feel the need to take leader to boost my re-rolls and while I have a big guy he's not so crucial to the play that I need to sacrifice a line-Orc double to make him more reliable.

Dauntless in a team with an Ogre and 4 Black Orcs? No, i don't think so.
Stand Firm, Guard, or even Dodge would do.

See my original post - were it earlier in the league I would have taken Leader.ianwilliams wrote:Leader would be useful too, if you've got a Big Guy.
Hmmmm, thought about guard but I reckoned that with 9 players with access to Strength skills on the team it might be a bit of a waste giving it to a lineman. Stand Firm being a Strength Trait that's not an option either unfortunately, and I kinda wanted something offensive to help him get to his next level.TiMuN wrote:Stand Firm, Guard, or even Dodge would do.
I am now thinking Piling On actually - in our league we play you go down before you roll the armour roll, but still it's a damn good skill. I figure that he makes so few blocks because of all the other hitters around that he wants to be making an impact, and I can take 1 AV9 player on the floor with that much strength on my team. What do ya think?

You didn't mention wheter you have goblins or not. If you do, I'd take Leader for your Big Guy (TTM is fun!), but if you don't, I'd propably take Guard.

I'd go with leader. It really is that valuable to your big guy, and it's an extra on a player who's tough to take off the pitch. I'd save Piling On for someone who can also take Mighty Blow on a regular skill. Guard still isn't a bad choice, as it would make him great at standing there and helping out your blitzers. Dodge would make him a better individual player, and give him a chance to get out into open space, and that could be the offensive skill you're looking for.

The real question is how does he fit into the team.
By the sound of it you have all your positional players so he probably doesn't make your 1st choice 11 for either defence or offence regardless of skills. I'm presuming 4 BOBs, 1 BG, 4 Blitzers, 2 Thowers and you've probably got either goblins or other skilled line orcs to field instead.
Given that he isn't playing then you have to ask what skill makes the best use of him as a sub?
IMO Piling On is a bit of a waste on a S3 player who doesn't have block and is unlikely to be blitzing much anyway.

Alright here's the rest of my team:
Blitzer Tackle, Mighty Blow
Blitzer Tackle, Strip Ball, Pro
Blitzer +1S, Dodge
Blitzer +1M, Mighty Blow
BO Block, Frenzy
BO Block, Guard
BO Block
BO Block
Thrower Dodge
Thrower Block, Accurate, Safe Throw
Goblin Sure Feet, Catch
Goblin
Ogre Block
LineOrc Tackle
LineOrc *Double*
LineOrc
My team has loads of hitting power as you can see, so I'm not too bothered about guards. Sure I want them, but I see them as a great 2nd skill for a BO rather than a lineman's first skill - my opponents just take to hitting the conspicuous S3 guard player first!
You guys and your leaders!
I admit that when the big guy fouls up it's annoying, but I still don't think it's worth having a pretty naff lineman to make up for that. I'm a careful player, so I only throw 2 Die blocks with the Ogre, he almost never blitzes, he has block and hasn't made an agility roll in 2 seasons. I don't like TTM that much, because quite frankly I like to win games!
I've tried it occasionally but never really pulled it off so I put my faith in regular passing plays when time is short.
Now I don't have a clue what to take.

I'd go for dodge. Makes it harder to throw him over, and MV6 AG3 AV9 makes it possible to remain deep in the half of opponent, unlike the gobbo's who will get killed more easy. You can always take Block later on to creat a blodge lineman.
With dodge you might be able to score more TD's and therefore earn the desperatly needed SPP's faster.

Dodge is possible as then you can bring him on to tie up those nasty WA. You'd really want block too, but with Dodge he's got a decent chance of scoring some TDs too. With Blodge and Av9 he's a good candidate for soaking up nasty blocks.
I still like the idea of Diving Tackle to help against those speed teams.

M6? I wish! That's the problem with trying to make an Orc lineman a scorer - it's 13 squares to the endzone from the line of scrimmage and he's got M5 - so that's at least 3 GFIs to pull off a 2 turn score!Draco wrote:MV6 AG3 AV9 makes it possible to remain deep in the half of opponent, unlike the gobbo's who will get killed more easy
Anyway, note my less experienced thrower has dodge - he's my run/scorer in development as he can get dump off without a double and comes with sure hands to negate strip ball!
Dirty Player? I'm liking that idea...
