 Doh! Surprise is lost I'm doomed. Hah - but maybe this is all a sneaky feint. Everyone at CamCarnage is expecting 4 Lion Warriors to turn up so go heavy into pass defence. Then I turn up with my Orcs :D

...and I guess that to achieve the full surprise effect, you'll actually turn up with Goblins?

- By the way, having also played high elves in the past, I will recommend that you keep those two dragon warriors.
Although the 'conservative' option remains my favourite roster, I would even think of the following:

2 Dragon Warriors 200k
1 Phoenix Warrior 70k
8 Linemen 560k
3 rr 150k
2 ff 20k

It's the kind of 'strength' ( ) high elf team, including only av 8 players. Not embarrassing yourself with lion warriors would mean that you are tailoring your team to turnover your opponent more than actually score on the reception of the kickoff. You could focus your first skills onto your DW to turn them into serial 'turnoverers': leap, strip ball... almost like war dancers.
That's my idea of a surprising high elf team.

That's quite interesting - however one of my premises is that speed is crucial. Only 2 MA7 players isn't going hurt opponents so much.

Skill progression would probably be
Line elf - kick
Dragon - Tackle
Lion - Leap
Lion - Strip Ball
Lion - Block or Dodge.

That helps convert those Lions into blitzer types.

Longshot - Played in the WPS BB GT - came 8th :-? but got best painted...

Deathwing - Could well be at Spiky, but am going to BRITCON and CamCarnage first so I'll have to see if I have enough spare time (and by then it might be the new elf models :D)

I fear that with no more than 2 rr and one player with the block skill, during your first 2-3 games, your team will have trouble surviving orcs or dwarves with a cage and various supporting players who will eat away your team until they can score unhindered.

(Three rr will help the absence of the dodge skill in order to run away from big hitters. )

well, you can do something like that too:
1 Pho 80
2 Dra 200
8 Lin 560
3 RR 150
1FF 10

total 1.000.000

I think that in tourny that could be nice to have 3 RR with HE

Skills:
Kick for a Line,
Tackle for a Dragon
Accurate for the Pho
Dodge for a Dragon
Dodge for a line

But you can also make something like 'players make the diff':
2 Pho 160
4 Lion 360
2 Dra 200
3 Line 210
1 RR 50
2FF 20

1 RR but 8 positionnal players. /no dodge/
Skills:
I would go for:
Tackle one a Dra
Kick on a line
and 3 Dodge for lions.

i think that the second is more difficult to play.

I was going to start a new thread on this, but after doing my search and finding this why bother.

A lot of useful stuff in this thread as I am looking at taking this roster
1 Dragon, 4 Lions, 1 Phoenix, 5 Line elves, 2 TRR, 1 FF
I was wondering if Ian or anyone else had any new thoughts on the roster since it has been a few years now.

I'm also looking for skill suggestions in order of prefrence.

Any help? :smoking:

3 RR 150
1 Apoth
3FF

total 1.000.000

A bit mad but totally unexpected!! :P

Nah, I think the 4 Lions roster just doesn't work well.

There are 2 big problems

1) You've got 11 players on the field, no apoth, and 4 of them are Av7. The catchers get remorselly targetted and soon you have a pretty rubbish team.
2) You still don't have good skills...

I'd be tempted to try swapping the 4th Lion & Phoenix for the 2nd Dragon and a lineman (assumes you are going to play a short passing game on offence).
