Also one of my favorite subjects.
I must admitt that my friends have come up with some brilliant names. One coach has mixed up Pacific islands and put them back together to get some cool Elven names. Another coach has given Dynamo Kislev 1917-1950 Russian communist names and there are other good examples omn their rosters. My personal best picks are
Dark Elf blitzer= Cedric Antona. (Cantona would have been an ideal bloodbowl player)
Undead Vampire= Count Basy
Chaos Bullcentaur= Sharg Shetland.

Let's hear some more

My favourite name was for an Ogre on my Norse team: Laktos the Intolerant.

We (usually) tend to wait until players reach 26 and name them according to skills gained, mostly with dreadful puns!
Orc Blitzer with Stand Firm- Ooya Pushin.
Orc Blitzer with Mighty Blow- Stixda Bootin.
Beastman with 67 SP's- Talon Ted (I love that one!)
ST5 Chaos Warrior- Komen Avergo
Norse Catchers- Dan Ishbaycon and Ivan Tuend.
Black Orc-Arden Fikk etc,etc.
And another thought, I wonder how many "Spliff" Oberwalds there are in the world? :smoking:

I'll probably never do it, but if I ever get to use my cool little "Dwarf with a Bazooka" model (the old star player) he'll delight in the name Gunnar Mortarsson. Well, I thought it was amusing. Most of my dwarfs tend to have "stony" names. Basalt, Granit, Stonewall...

Excellent names  That's another part of the fun, who can come up with the funniest name. Naming them at 26SPP is a good idea, we do it at the start, but it is so uncanny how players seem to develop appropriately to their given name. Take Tuff Tee, a goblin from my Sly Sods Goblin team who ended up ST3 with Block. The ST and Block skill combined with his Dodge skill made him very difficult to knock down and he became a thorn to a number of teams. He now plays for the Kraynium Krushaz

Ah, forgot about Gobbos. How about Poomy Selv, Knotta Klew, Kno Eideer and Arz Wype?
Then there's the Zombies, Johnny Rotting, Decom Poze and Dee Khay.
Not forgetting the Werewolf Ray Beez.

IMO Orcs and Gobbos seem the best races to give silly names to, because there's already an air of comical tuggery about them. My Orc/Gobbo team, The Green Machine, (read - plastic orcs from the box plus a couple of blisters of Gobs) includes Immolation Burk and Psyko Smiff (Blitzers), Elfslasher Jones and Dumptruk O'Malley (Lineorcs), Cliff (Black orc) and the team thrower, "Chukka" Mental.

All players in our league must start with a name, but some of them have gotten titels which are written behind their names. My Zombie fouler got the name "the Omen" written behind his name and one of the Kislev players with dauntless got the titel "hero of the communist republic". But granted, we can't change their names to show their superior strength, agility etc.

One varient of the idea of waiting for skills to name players is to give players one name and add a last name or title as they become personalized. I did this with my Dwarf team,
Bluebeard's Brewsers:

Melgar Goatkiller (last name added after he killed a beastman in each of 2 successive games)

Fuddlebug the Swift (Runner with +1 MA)

Other last names/titles included Quickthump (3rd edition Diving Tackle), the Nimble (+1 AG), the Strong (+1 ST & Stand Firm), etc.

The Blitzers on the team were named Rasafraken and Sesafresan (think Yosemite Sam muttering to himself).

My Undead team, Malignant Stench, has the following players:

Stompenhotep & Thumpses I (mummies),

Dryrot, Mildew, Crust, Fungus, etc (skeletons & zombies),

and for some reason I had very odd names for the ghouls, like Jimmy Fish and Linseed Oil.

Jobu, like that idea.
As for Linseed Oil, we had a +1AG Ghoul once called Vas O'leen. (Vaseline is a brand name for petroleum jelly over here.)

I've asked to my girlfriend about names of precolombine gods and things to give name to all players in my lizard team, the unvincible "Quetzacoatl Flyers" here are the names:
Quetzacoatl (of course ), Xiuhtecuhtli, Coatlicue, Huitzipochtli, Cuilapan, Kaminaljuyu, Chac, Nicoya, Tlatilco, Tlapacoya, Atlihuayan, Tlaloc, Huilozinta... (I have some more).
Next team I'm thinking about using diferent tekila brands for their names.

:pissed: <--I have to give this smily the first position!

A Norse team in my league has a blitzer by the name of "Boreal Rockhammer" which two of the coaches (both Engineers by trade) find hilarious. I don't see it myself :???: Another team of Skaven took the team name "Mad Ferrit" something about Manchester....
