Standing up and horns

Post by Grumbledook »

Should standing up count for the movement needed to be able to use horns?

Nope, you need to move at least 1 square first. So if you want to use them dodge out and move back in.

Correct ... standing up isn't enough to use Horns. (serious pain in the a** to program that for the PBeM program)

Confirmed. Page 35 of the LRB under the Horns description clearly states:

"only if he has moved at least one square before he makes the block (standing up at the start of your action does not count!)."

As everybody else have said, standing up does not count as move when using horns.

Hmm..the post said should not does....

Is this a straight rules query or a discussion on the merits of a change?

DW...that's an excellent observation. However, my opinion would remain the same. The benefit of horns should only be received if the player physically moves a square. It is the player's momentum combined with the horns that results in the +1 ST. Not that I need to tell any of us that, just trying to up my posts.

Nah i was just wondering, cause i was playing on javabowl with my new chaos team and i kept forgetting that it doesn't add the horns str when standing up. Meant i kept making silly one dice blocks when i thought they were gonna be 2 :/

They have managed to lose their first two games and not got a single skill yet, so things are going well ;]

Though thinking about it, seeing as the horns are on the head I can imagine the beastman getting up and charging headfirst into the opponent next to him using the horns. Would give a nice boost to starting chaos teams who really do suck early on, though would it be of too much benefit for higher tr teams?

I like to think that they have to lower their head and charge before getting the strength bonus. So i like it the way it is.
