Stand Firm and Go For It

Post by Sam Witty »

My player has stand firm and he trys to dodge away from a tackle zone while I make a go for it roll. What happens if I fail the dodge, do I still have to make a GFI roll. This is just a timing issue. I don't know what happens first the GFI or the dodge.

If I get this right you:

A. want to move more than you movement allowence.
B. are leaving a tackle zone.

AFAIK you roll the GFI first. then make the dodge roll to see if you can get away. If you fail the GFI you fall down in the square you were going to. If you make the GFI roll you can make the dodgeroll. If that fails you don't leave the square you were starting to dodge away from. The stand Firm keeps you on your feet and luckily you can resume your turn. :smoking:

i think it should be noted that gfis must first be performed, if necessary, for blitzes as well.

hmm. I've always played it that you roll GFI first. Page 20 LRB states that you roll GFI first before doing a block in a blitz or frenzy. The rules suggest the timing could be roll dodge first (as player leaves tackle zone) then GFI (LRB pg 20, after player has moved extra square). Consistency with rolling GFI before a block suggests GFI before dodge also.
