Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

Yeah I think Ian's got it: - 1AV instead of each niggle. So the point of change is still similar - 2 niggles and most bar av 7 guys are starting to hurt fairly badly (av 7 getting killed like flings).

3 niggles and even av 9 becomes av 6.

If this came in and aging was kept and all the niggles were converted to -1 AV (each) I would much prefer it - much better to die on-field than become an assistant coach.

If someone gets below av 2 (and he's not fired) then he is forced to retire to his wheelchair. The only impact is then on the Virus Handicap roll - this can easily be amended to 2 random players miss the game due to flu or some other effect.

I like the current niggle/miss next game system. It mirrors actual sports events. The best player on one of my teams missed a game due to a niggle, it seemed sort of fitting since he has been around for ever, has lost AG due to aging. It made the game seem slightly more "real"., and his team still won.

Galak, "Bugmans" (GW BBB League Rules) has something sililar:

"To many Hits to the Head"...

In short, i would LOVE the idea that for example as an ageing result you get Bone Head -> Really Stupid rather than 2 Niggling Injuries.

Not sure about getting rid of Niggles completely because it causes coaches to improvise... i hate it... but im not sure...

Handicaps as a result of injuries - ageing would be great in whatever form!

I think it causes more problems than its worth, if you have a team full of boneheads you are going to have to keep track of who is boneheaded and who isn't

its also a lot weaker than a niggle, say you had a stand firm guard black orc, you could do nothing with him and leave him on LOS and he will do his job

people are moaning about player turnover and this will reduce it imho and make the game more complex and slower to play on the actual field

its not at all streamlining if you look at it closely, niggles are far more simple, one roll at the beginning of the match, I could be happy to see bonehead maybe on the roll of a 1 and leaving niggles in there but I don't see a good reason to remove niggles imho

I'd quite happily see a bonehead result added to the injuries, but I want Niggles to stay, though make tem apply per half.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I'll give you the niggles we now use (partly my idea), they are up on the board somewhere else I think but this topic seems very applicable.

Niggles work exactly the way they used to with the exception that you can now force a player who niggles to turn up and play anyway.
We matched each of the 5 injuries on the d66 table to a specific penalty. This means your injury will cause one of:
-2 Ma, -2 Av, -1 St, -1 Ag or Non ball handler
each time you roll that 1 for the game.
Effects can stack for multiple niggles and you always get the choice of leaving the player at home (we play the must set up 11 rule so you might want to protect your av3 gutterrunner for instance)

Adds a lot of flavour to the team and even makes use of a mechanic that already exists in the game but is rarely used. (how many people note down what kind of niggle a player has?)

The apothecary can still be used to make the player fully fit of course.

John.

Good enough ... thanks for the discussion guys.

It wasn't a concept I was married to at all ... just wanted to get your feedback. The MBBL2 has Niggles rolled at the start of any half including Overtime which I'm okay with as it makes the players a little more in game risky.
