Chaos Ogre or Mino

Post by Bo16 »

Hi,
played yesterday a match against Norse, even though i won 2-1,
they killed my Mino

i was thinking now if ishould buy a new Mino or Ogre, since the Mino did cost me two games (4 skulls in a row each match)

here is what my team looks like:

CW 5439 Block, MB
CW 5439 Block
CW 5439 Block, Claw
CW 5639 :D
4xB 6338 Block
4xB 6338

3 RR
13 FF
60K

i planned to turn my CW ST6 into my main ballcarrier until he gets block and than let the Beastman score.

Why does this never happen to me

I prefer the Ogre as he's causing less problems to his coach. WA can really be a pain sometimes, no matter what you do.

Apart from my ogre, my big guys have a nasty habit of making 2 cas and then stubbornly refuse to make the third in order to get their first skill.
I have the problem with my norse mino (despite having leader on another player), my kroxigor (despite having leader on another player), and my Rat Ogre...

Ogre all the way. Trolls & Minos are a lot fluffier, but Ogres are the most effective.

Saying that having a troll on your LOS isn't going to be that different to an Ogre so if you come up short it may be better value for money.

S6 CW :o Lovely jubbly. Just keep setting him up for 3 dice blocks. He'll get SPPs quickly enough

See it that way:

What's a mino got that an ogre does not? Horns.
Now, what's your beastmen's main strength? Horns.
How many times can horns be effectively used per turn? Once.
Can you decrease the effect of Wild Animal, apart from putting your minotaur in situations where he will be away from the scrum, i.e. make him a smaller pain than an ogre could be? No
Can you decrease the effect of Bone Head? At the next double, give one of your players leader so that the BH roll can be done again - so Yes.

---> get an ogre.

There's better than a st6 CW:
two st5 high elf linemen.

Thanks

i will take the ogre. Are there any cool ogre figs? i have one 2nd edt. fig but don´t like that very much.

Asmodan:
I think it because i use the Borak fig as my 4th CW. normally i don´t get even one skill increase.

JJB:
two ST5 Linemen are very nice.
last week i played against WE with a ST4 AG5 Thrower, he was quite annoying for three turns, then my CW with claw got to him. R.I.P.

on paper ogres are better players then mins, but ...

i just love mins, there is something about them. i love the way my min stands on the los looking hard and scary, i think they just look more crazy and that suits me fine.

but ogres are better on paper, there is no doubt

I'd go mino just for the fun
Ogre is a better choice gaming wise

Frenzy, Access to Mutations :P

In a Chaos team with a well anchored line of 4 CWs i'd consider taking a Mino over an Ogre to hunt down blodgy receivers in the back field (3 dice frency). Developed with Block, Piling On and RSF he can take out every opponent, even Big Guys, in a single blitz.

I'm not saying he's better than an Ogre, but on the same level in a Chaos team. I agree with taking the Ogre over the Mino for other teams like Norse who don't have 4 STR4 players in their regular roster.

For a chaos team the new WFB chaos Ogres might be worth a look. Ok, Ogres dont't have access to physicals in BB, but the mini's look good.

I went for the troll when i had that choice...
The lure of Regen was just to much... even if it is only 4+
That and i'm cheap.

Maybe if he dies i'll go the orge too...
but yes, never minotaur... horns is a bit of a waste on a choas team, and WA can be a complete pain in the butt.
