How to deal with Amazons?

Post by Dravic »

God, Amazons are so anyoing to play against, all that dodging and stuff,
GRRRRRR, FLESH GOLEM SMASH
Okay here is my list,
6 zombies
2 ghouls, one used to have a chainsaw, lost it the first match :pissed:
2 weights
2 flesh golem
2 re-rolls
and 60k in the bank

I dont know his exact army list, but i know for sure he will definataly have Star blizters and players with block and dodge.

On my first game against Amazons, i did a sort of cage thing to protect my ball carrier as i advanced slowy up the field.
i got 2 TD, but i still lossed

some extra advice would be nice,
so can i get a little help here?

well unless you have any tackle i would concentrate on taking out players using the block on your wights

taking on blodge players will probably be a waste of time hitting them otherwise

sit back and let them come to you and just try and turn them over ag3 they won't want to be making dodges that elf teams would attempt

the money in the bank isn't going to get you anything worth buying (more zombies?!)

just try and grind them down

First hit the players without block or dodge to take them out first. Once you have more players than your opponent, you should be able to win. In my experience, the amazon team has trouble if they are outnumbered. Of course, with cheap players and block/dodge players, this is situation is not easily achieved.
If you have a player with tackle, blitz with him!

Kinda hard to find players without dodge on a 'Zon team ;)

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

 Not awake yet, I think.
I have played against dwarves/CD so many times that I kind of have forgotten that my amazons have dodge :-? .

Get another chainsaw, use it to hit the Blitzers (Av 7 goes pop!).

Otherwise use your players with block to hit those that don't.

Ghouls as a non lineman position surely aren't aloud chainsaws?

I just say give the hussies a good spanking.....

Those little skirts

Oh sorry lads, slipped off into a day dream there.

Seriously, I play alot with an undead pact team (I think that's what to call them in this day and age).

Definitely use your wights to concentrate on the catchers and line. It's always good to have the ghouls running off the shoulder of the wights in case of assistance and dropped balls. (The amazon low armour value will help matters with scoring injuries quickly).

Avoid the blockers and let them come to you (I think Grum has already said this). The mummies should then detract from the centre and aid whoever is battling the blockers (if they can get there with a movement of 3). I personally would let your zombies and skels do the rounding up on blockers (after all, they only cost 30k).

Totally leave it to the ghouls with the scoring.

Being an Zon player myself, scorn me for giving this info out...

The skill to become Anti-Amazon team is:
"Tackle"
- With this Skill, Zons cannot Dodge out with a Re-rollable dice roll. 1 and they are done, unless they use a team Re-Roll...
- Also with Tackle, the Pow Dodge result will knock them down...

Tactics:
- Most Amazon players will play off the Line.
- Their 1st turn, will be to get players into position for the "Run" or the "Throw"...
- Since they play off the line, on your turn, you will spend 1 turn to get into base to base contact... Plan accordingly for this... Remedy, spread out, and make it harder for them to get past...
- Making it harder for them to get by, will make them get into blocking actions with you... Then let the Pain begin!!!
