Good skills for a CD Troll?

Post by MechD »

Hey guys,

I play a Chaos Dwarf team, and while the situation hasn't come up just yet, I am curious as to what skills you would give a Troll on a CD team? I am planning to keep this team for awhile, so I am thinking with the possible "adjustments" that pile on could receive soon, that it might not be as good an investment. Obviously Pro would be a good skill, probably followed by Block, and for a third skill, I was thinking perhaps Guard would make a nice addition to my front line since most of my CD's are packing it.. Anybody else have any experience with a Troll on a CD team and care to share?

Looking forward to your replies! :)

I'd go with block first, but pro, guard, and tackle are great additions. Stand Firm and Frenzy are probably good additions on doubles rolls.

The Troll is pretty much on a CD team to help out the Dwarves suck up the attention in the middle of the field while your Bull Centaurs and Hobgoblins chase and score. All of the above skills help the big guy do that.

He's there to be the rock in the middle of the line, so as stated its the standard "Block, Stand firm, Tackle, Guard" sort of route.

If PO is going to be an Armour RR its still a nice skill although better suited to the CDs then. I'd go Block, Pro, Guard and might think about including Break Tackle into the mix ... makes him more mobile when he has guard. 2+ dodge into a TZ is not too bad :)

Skills: Block, Guard, Pro, Piling on (put this #1 or #2 under current rules).

Doubles: Stand Firm/Frenzy (your pick, they're both great).

As others have said, the Troll is your anchor around which your offensive or defensive line will pivot. Keep him standing, and have him provide assists.

I'd still go with PO first. Then Block and MBlow. Fourth skill (if he lives through it!) : Multiple Block. I just love that skill on big guys!

Why would you give him Mighty Blow? Isn't one enough?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Remember that he suggested that he would be playing these guys through the BBRC rules meeting, and since it seems likely that they'll be changing PO, Block probably makes more sense. Under current rules, I think Block and PO are a toss-up, depending on your risk/reward preferences.
