Wood Elf Development
Hi everyone,
I'm collecting good thoughts on how to develop the standard Woodie starting line-up (10 lineelves, 1 wardancer). I bought an apoth and a second wardancer (no one died though), but I would like to know your suggestions on what skills to take with lineelves or what players to buy next. I thought about giving them dodge...
Thanks a lot!

Kick on one.
Block or Dodge on the rest, unless you want a dirty player.
Personal preference is for 3 to take block 1st (LOS) and the rest to take dodge.
2nd skills you need to mix up combos of Block, Dodge, Tackle & Sidestep.
Guard or Dauntless on doubles (of course).

I would buy a thrower as you next player. Kick as your first skill then dodge to the rest. On doubles take leader as you first skill then guard or daugntless.

I always take my Leader on a player that either
1) has Niggling already, or
2) Aged on his 1st roll.
If you are lucky enough tho, you won't have any nigglings and then you can take that leader on anyone you want, but I would not try to develop that leader any further after he's got that skill. After a while you won't need that extra RR as your skills will do all the job for you. And with 10 Linemen, you will have to retire some of them after a while (8 pos. players mean you will have to dump 2 Linemen, 3 if you add a Treeman to that). In that dump, the leader usually goes on my team.
Follow the skill choices from what they said above. I find it hardest to find skills for my Wardancers. They can develop in so many ways, and you only have 2 of them

I gave my first two linelves dodge, the third will have kick, with the rest I'm going for block and I will also try to build up the combos as above. I have a problem with the WDs since I wasn't able to get any SPPs during my first three games. Yesterday one of my dodge-linelves died - it's hard to keep them breathing with AV7...
Thanks for the advice!

Lol! I have the exact same problem as you had! In my two first games the only thing I got was mvp, and av7.... skeatchy! Anyway my last game two line-elves died, quite a blow for WE in the early stages!

Re: gggg
It's not that I wouldn't be able to get SPPs, I just have a weird problem of getting them WITH WARDANCERS. All TDs/CMPs/CAS happened to lineelves... Yesterday my WD failed a GFI to the End Zone holding a ball... Life can be so beautiful...armarilion wrote:Lol! I have the exact same problem as you had! Oi Bifi!
Don't worry about your WDs. They will sooner or later get all the SPPs they need. Rather be happy, that your linemen do all the good stuuf. You cannot have enough points on them, as they need every skill they can get.
I even try to prevent my WDs do any scoring, if at all possible. I really prefer having a capable line, than a few outstanding positions.

Hrm...
I didn't even see the potential of Kick skill in a Wood Elf team....
After that, I like the idea of block on three linemen, and dodge on the rest, getting the inverse for their second skill. Side step aggrivates people to no end, also...especially since the change to diving tackle...
Imagine three lineelves on the LOS with Block, Dodge, and Sidestep....

In regards to whom to purchase next, think of the potential of abusing the kick skill when you have a catcher or two....
Kick it as far away from their guys as possible, and get your catcher there before they can. War Dancers have leap, so they may have it easier, but the 9 movement means it will be a rarity for your catcher not to be able to reach the ball (If placed right...especially if you roll blitz....)

Use of kick is very strong in tourny and in league.
Against bashy team: kick deep, that will delay their cage and maybe you can pick it up before him, or at least annoy him a lot.
Against Agil Teams, kick short, You forced them to play quickly and your WD and leap to the ball carrier.
And as MoonFever told it, with Blitz, this is great!

Kick is also very good because many players concentrate their offense on one side.
So if you manage to kick the ball to the other side they often can´t get enough players to protect the ball or the ball carrier.
So you get a blitz at the ball carrier.
