A very hard test for my Woodies

Post by Dark_mauri »

Hi, this is the first time that I write anything here so I'm hoping that you can help me :D
My problem is that I HAVE to play against a TR 192 CD with my TR 163 Woodies.
This is my roster>
9-Lineman (2 with +MA, 3 with block, 1 with guard, and 1 with
+1MA-guard)
2-Wardancers (1 with +1MA-Shadowing (and NI), the other with Strip ball)
1- Thrower Rookie
1- Catcher with block
RR= 3 FF= 8

And the CD that i HAVE to play agaiinst have
2-Bull Centaur (1 with Frenzy and +1ST, and the other with +2MA and blck)
6-Chaos Dwarf Blockers (2 with guard, 1 with P. ON, 1 with MB, and 1 with MB and guard)
6-Hobgoblin (1 with +1AG,Block and +1ST  , one with doubles (I dont know what is he going to pick), 1 with S.Hands-Block, 1 with +1 ST,
and 1 with +1AG, block)
* I know what you are thinking (HE IS A MACHINE AT THE SKILLS)
He have a TROLL Rookie
RR=6 FF=11

I would appreciate if you could give me some ideas about how to play this match, cause I dont want to see a Massacre in this game cause Im gonna lost a lot if that happen.

I forgot soething, I have $160, what should I do? (buy a Catcher, a RR, a Treeman, or save it until this game is finished and buy wathever he kill me)

PLEASE SEND ANY IDEAS THAT YOU HAVE, IM GOING TO CONSIDERATE ALL OF THEM

Thanks.

buy an apo first (unless you got one already)
I'd get a catcher and beat him using the speed both catchers and all those +Ma players have.

For the rest it's the usual drill. Get a couple of players in his half at ALL times and use the Strip Ball WD to knock the ball loose. Pick it up and run for the TD.

Ah, and don't forget to dodge away so he can't hit you.

As a longtime CD coach,

Protect your Wardancers - Your opponents main objective is to get your best players off the pitch as fast as possible. With the CD's coming with tackle it won't be that hard either. His Piling On guy will be your nemesis all game if you don't take him out first. The rest of Dwarfs will be in the face of your Wardancers all game. Your Wardancers are no match for the little guys. Hit and Run!

If his Centaurs don't have the ball, be patient. You don't have to go after the ball carrier every turn. He's not that fast. Your blitzes may be better used freeing up an important player or two from the clutches of the tough Dwarves.

Good Luck! can't say I'm rooting for the Elves though. :)

Nobody knows what the Indians did to the buffalos, but it must've been pretty sick because millions of these gentle beasts committed suicide by throwing themselves in front of the white man's gun.

This is a really hard choice.

I am a De player with a TR or 192. All I can say is choose your type of game B4 you play.
If you want to run away and score buy an apoth and a catcher.your team seems to be based on this style.

But if you want to cuse damage (and protect your self) look to the treeman going head to head with CD is a BAD idea for a elf team.

I did it (with the dice on my side). Against that team list I would look to the passing game so those stuntys don't get a chance to Block you b4 you score.

Once you are 2 TD's up you can try a bit of biffo on them but remave that pile on dwarf asap. Into the crowd or the dead box just get him off the field.

Remember if you can't go around them, go through them

Have you considered freebooting some players? You can use them as cannon fodder to protect your long term players, you could freeboot a treeman (55K) and 2* linemen (70k) and you have your LOS when your receiving, plus you have some cash over to go with your winnings to replace other fallen players. Just try to make sure the freebooters don't get the SPP's

My advice: Score as often and as quickly as possible. The more often the pitch is reset (due to a TD or end of half), the less time there is to beat up your players. It's a real pity, you don't have kick on someone. Choose that skill as early as possible. Then you have the opportunity, to keep the game going your way.

But you don't have it, so we need to get along without it. Nevertheless try keeping deep into his half, so he can't cage up to quickly. Then use your supreme movement to dash in and try to rid him off the ball, if at all possible. Once the ball is caged, attack from the rear and use your leaps to free the ball. Be careful, not to expose your players to a heav beating. This is tricky to do, but your only chance. If in any way possible, try to rush him to make TDs, so you have more time to recover. Every new kick off is an opportunity to recover ko'ed players. Plus, you spend less time on the receiveing end of his grinding offense.

After all this, I can only wish good luck to you.

I played the match today and i lost 2-1.
It wasnt so bad, if you considerate that my WD with NI roll a 1 with the NI
and the other one was kicked and taked out (and placed in the KO zone)in the 2° turn of the first half. :pissed: :pissed: :pissed:
This WD comed in again in the turn 5 of the second half and 2 turns later we scored.
Plus we lost 3 turns dodging and rolling-1 RR-1.
But, i cant be angry because he didnt made any Injury so my team continue as it was before ( but with +1FF and +40$).
With the money.... i was so angry with the WD with NI that i bougth a new one (i dont know if that was a good idea, but i lost 17 in the TR so when the people in the league will make the rolls for the games that i have to play it will be 17 points of TR less; and if this WD take the MVP and some TD it will be great cause he is "very healthy" for now)

Well, thanks to all who gave me an advice.

See you!!! :D

Sorry to hear that you lost.

Smetimes it is just down to the Die rolls if you win or lose. Sound like you a a bit of a bad run .

Advice for your next game: Fire those dice and get a new set :D.

Good luck with the rest of the league.

Important thing is you didn't get a casualty. So, for the next time you won't face this killer team again, so a loss is acceptable. Getting a new WD was radical, but I think it was a good decision. He is just too valuable, to stay off the field.

So, I'd suggest getting kick for a lineman next and continue with your team as previously said. I can see a champion evolve there. :)
