Take a +1AG on an AG5 Leap WE Lino?

Post by Bifi »

My WE lineelf with +1 AG and Leap advanced and besides gaining an aging niggle he also got another +1 AG. Take it or not? It doesn't help passing from what I know... Block or Dodge would make him a bit more protected.

Seems pointless. AG 6 would help him dodge into a maze of tackle zones, but then he already has AG 5 and Leap, so he does this on an unmodified 2+ anyway.

... on the other hand, long bombs on a 3+, the rest on 2+ would be evil. Especially since you have MV 7 already. Depends on how advanced your thrower is.

I would go with AG6. You can leap only once but sometimes you have to dodge through 2 lines of players. Next skill = pass block. You intercept a pass on a 2+ with a AG6 Player. Your only problem will be to keep him alive so I would go with Block next and hopefully he lives long enough to get Pro too!

Take block. AG 6 isn't that great, since you'll still fumble on a 1-3 when passing. It is some use dodging into lots of tackle zones or picking up the ball in lots of tackle zones, but you have leap for the first and blitzing will generally free up a crowded ball. Block makes him much more dangerous, IMO.

A lot depends on what your team looks like. Good thrower? What about the War Dancers?

AG6 isn't generally that much more useful than AG5 so I'd be tempted by Pass Block, Dodge, Block or Strip ball.

Thanks (to all)!

I don't have a Thrower as of yet. My WDs have Dauntless + Strip Ball / Strip Ball. I have just one lino with Block. Otherwise there's one Catcher there with Sure Feet + Sprint.

Pass Block would be very nice, but nicer still with AG6.
Dodge would make his high AG even more useful.
Block would help him survive the day and make him aspire for a third WD.
Two times Strip Ball is enough IMO.

I would go for Block or Dogde, and not AG6. I got a catcher with AG6 once, but since he has catch already, going for Pass Block next is a 3+ int with RR, so it was worth it IMO on him.

AG5, Leap, Block/Dodge makes him a nice ballcatcher if you take, say Sure Hands next. He can then leap in the cage you broke up with the WDs, pick up the ball alot better than any other elf, and still make it out of the cage without horrible dodges. I think I would do that with him, but then again, I might not be the "normal" coach around here. I try a few weird things now and then ;)

OK, so now the choice is narrowed to either Block or Dodge. Both have an offensive as well as defensive asset... but since I already have 5 players wuth Dodge and only 3 with Block (WDs included) I'm more inclined to take Block.

I'm sort of beginning to switch to AG6 now.

One of the problems you'll have is that although the WD's knock the ball loose it ends up in TZ.

Now with AG6 you are picking it up on a 2+ in 2 TZ. So Take the AG then get Dodge (to get out again) next.

That means waiting for another 20 SPPs!

(BTW he incidentally got 4 MVPs in my 11 games. If the trend continues maybe in another 5-6 games he will advance again...)

Take dodge for him and he should be able to get those SPP's sooner.

The cage is busted by the WD's he jumps in picks up the ball dodges out and scores. Then get him Block and you have a scoring machine on your team. He is good already and doge will make him virtually unstopable.

Also once he has the ball and is out of the cage he can take some heat off the WD in the cage. You can blitz the ball carrier with the WD and then Call a pass action with the AG 5 guy jump in dodge out and pass without TZ's on the passer. Awesome moves with the WE catchers. Hey presto another TD and Completion to go with it. :D

I think dodge is the best option.

I hope the score board will prove me right
