In my opinon you can have good fun with star players if you don't go 'silly', sure some races don't have acess to the really good ones but like i said its just tough really.

And some don't have access to any (ie Norse and Amazon), apart from Thrud (who can be as much as a hinderance as a help), and Zara when she's made official.

Put me down as another vote against permanent SP's.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

These Stars are from 3rd Edition, where completely diffrent player development rules applied.

If you want to use permanent Stars, design your own, based on Rookie Players from your Team lists.

Do not make any Big Guy or secret weapon stars availiable. Price them 20k for Any Skill or Trait, 20k for a Characteristics increase and 10k for a normal Skill. Remember to assign at least one completely worthless skill to your stars. Like Mighty Blow for a Thrower to compensate the Strong Arm you surely want him to have...

The clue is then: Assign the player the minimum number of Star Player Points he needs to justify his extra skills.

So, if you decide a Griff Oberwald Type of Blitzer he costs you like 240k and comes with 176 Star Player Points. That means buying the original griff Oberwald adds about 60 Points to your Team Rating.

In case you don't know it - that kills your Team...

Zara's official now isn't she? I didn't think she was experimental.

no I think that she & Ramtut are still experimental. The BB tourney pack said only star players that are in the LRB can be taken, so unless they are added come the rules review then it migh be that they are still experimental.

a good thing IMO, as Zara is unbalanced vs Undead at the very least.

And worth 140k against anyone else, so broken like all the other stars

If you use the Gencon rules so its 180k with no rerolls that's fine.
