Tactics for Chaos Pact teams

Post by Nerevar »

I hope this is in the right section.

Ok I've got:

6 Chaos Marauders
2 Beastmen
1 Norse Catcher (ally)
1 Skaven Thrower (ally)
1 Black Orc (ally)
1 Chaos Warrior (ally)
1 Ogre

What sorta offensive and defensive tactics could i get out them? And I'm contemplating on buying a Minotaur too!

Well, I can't say I agree with your team ally choices at all. My choices would be Norse - Bz; Skaven - Gr; Orc BOB or Th

I would guess your best best is to overload one side of the field with the norse catcher one space from the LOS. Get the ball with the Th and throw it to the Ca on the same turn, and try to advance quickly through the wide zone.

On Defense use a spread 3-4-4 against fast/AG teams since your front three are strong with high AV. Against other teams you can use any standard D really.

Don't think you want to hear this but sack the norse and skaven, and get a GR and a Blitzer; the GR can do the passing for a while and if you need a better passer get an orc.

Having said that you might want to make a "wedge" along one side of the field with your catcher in it and your thrower safe in your own field and then next turn (if you're close enough) blitz a hole, pass, catch, score or (if you're not close enough, blitz some space, move forward in a cage of some sorts, keep the passer safe and next turn pass, catch, score

A normal cage might also work well, especially against weaker team (6 marauders all have block and some other good smashers in there as well)

First thing you need to do is sack the thrower and replace him with a Gutter Runner, then your team will be completely broken and you'll win your league

I am indeed leading my league with that.

But even with your team i think it is possible to play. You can build a very strong (high strength) cage. Use you thrower to carry the ball in the middle of that (give him block, if there are alot of Wardancers/other leapers around). With movement 7 on him, you can easily jump out the somewhat slow cage to score with him.
Allways have your catcher and perhaps 1/2 lino waiting to catch the ball somewhere else and score if possible.
As allways when using cages, use the clock to your advantage.

Mind you, you'll need the upper half for that
