Which would you choose...
choose Two of the three....
Fungus the Loon (ball and chain), Nobbla Blackwort(sp?) (Chainsaw), or Bomber Dribblesnort(sp?)(bomber)
Background: League is about to enter single elim playoffs. I am a Veteran Orc team (3 season) that has had a rough go of it mid season. In particular one dwarven player got me so riled up I didn't play smart and tried to take it to him but ended up with a star thrower dead (P, SH, NOS, Block, Strong Arm, Dump Off), a headhunting blitzer dead (block, Tackle, MB, PO, Pro).
This dwarven opponent and I play each other first round. Even if i were to win (see team below) I do not think I would last the next round or in BB against the expected winner. Instead I yearn to play the Amazons so am going to retire this team. With that knowledge I'm going to do my best to maim and maim some more of this players team. So my question is which Star Players do I take to do this.
My team has
three BOB's (no skills; Blodge and Guard; Block And Guard)
5 Line orcs(all have Block: one with AG+1 and Guard; one with Tackle)
1 goblin(usual and catch)
Ogre (BBRC came out so late we're allowing teams to keep the ogres just not replace them) she has block and pro
3 blitzers(one has Blodge, MB, Strip Ball, Stand Firm, and 2 nigglings; one has Blodge, Tackle; last one has blodge, MB, sure hands +1 to ST,AG, MA One niggling and -1 AV)
I have 50k gp and 4 rerolls (opponent has gobs of cash and 6 RR) I have a one higher FF at 14
I will most likely get 3 handicaps against him and he has said that if I buy a wizard he's buying a deathroller. I'm buying a wizard.
So after the wizard I have enough for two of the three above but all not all three. I have never ever used any of these star goblins though so I need feedback. I am leaning heavily toward the bomber (almost like a mini wizard) for sure and like the chainsaw for the +3 to the armor instead of a block. I've seen the power of Fungus but I'm not too sure of his destuctive potential.
Remember I do not care about this team. Only thing I need to live is my Super blitzer so I can retire him as the leagues best player to date at 142 SPP's.

For those that don't care, Thrudd really introduces some painful randomness to the game, and he's got the added bonus of being able to bitchify the Deathroller pretty easily.
I'd go with wizard + Thrudd + Bomber.
I'd go with wizard + Thrudd + Bomber.

If you don't care about hurting yourself and are just going complete kamikaze I'd go with the bomber and chainsaw, actually i'd go with that combo unless I wanted to laugh at myself. The B&C is just too unreliable, he could have a heart attack first turn and then where are you?
Nope, toss bombs and then when they are on their backs foul with the chainsaw! Boo YA!

A wizard works great on a death roller : just roll a 2+ and he's out !
Bomber is less powerful, since the roll to knock down down opponent is done regardless the -poor- AG of your opponents. But it is still the best goblin hero, since he can at least be a good thrower (accurate and no stunty).
The B&C is surely unreliable, since it might die at the first turn. But put it on the front line and your dwarven opponents will get sick of it !
I don't like the chainsaw since generally, it takes 2 or 3 turns to start it and it is often too late : a TD is scored or your opponent has rushed and blitzed it.

Bomber and Chainsaw. In my experiance (and mine, mind you) the B&C just isn't destructive enough. I'd have thought that beening smacked around the head by a huge metal ball would have had MB at least, but no
. Saw and bombs are ideal against dwarfs.

Death roller is a pussy cat - just keep 1/2 dice blocking him until he falls over - or Fireball him on the 1st turn. You've spent less money than him
Chainsaw isn't so great against Dwarves - because you still need 6 or 7+ to get through armour.
The bomber is good - because of your opponent's low AG.
Have you got enough for Varag? He can be a bit useful...

Bomber is great. Ball and Chain sounds quite good but isn't effective enough. Chainsaw is very brutal. At least to its holder
Yes, my vote is Bomber and Chainsaw.

Thanks everyone
Thanks all for the advice. It kinda reaffirms what I was thinking.
As for his Deathroller. That was my plan wherever it was just lay the wizard down first turn. even better if it's along the edge. Lightning BOLT!!! no chance at failure there. Plus I'm expecting to lose and he just wasted a ton of money.
Thrud would be good but we play if two players buy the same star player in a game then it cancels out and he walks a way a wealthy man for no work. I'm afraid he'd do that to me as he does have quite a treasury.
The game is this Thursday. I'll be checking back for more advice and I'll let this post know the outcome. Specifically how many dead dwarves there are....<MUHAHAHAHA>
Sorry, Thanks,
Risu
