Help me rebuild this team...

Post by BadMrMojo »

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team& ... team_id=95
(or http://fumbbl.com/teams/Ethanol+Cordials.html for a plain HTML roster)

Since this team is in FUMBBL in the Open division, I have the luxury of dumping some stars and doing a bit of 'renovation.' Thing is, I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

Here are a few details.
- The thrower ain't going. I like him, he's the last surviving original member and he's on the top 10. Don't even think about it. :)
- The double niggled DW is going (alas! Been counting on him for ages...). So should I wait until I get the next skill on the other DW (for leap) or give him the boot now, since handicaps are gonna kill me?
- The Lion Warrior is problematic... at one point I had three other ones that I much preferred, but this is the only one that survived. I don't really like the way he turned out and I wish I would have developed him a bit differently. He just rarely seems to actually be useful except as an occasional deterrent to a passing play (which means they just run up and hand off instead). Dump him now (and have 9 players!) or wait until I have the $ to replace him.

Basically, the current plan is to play the next game with 8-10 players (depending upon niggle rolls) and use the cash to add another LW. Then next time I can afford a replacement, dump Porto and get a new DW, then replace the niggled Limone and add the 2nd thrower and 2 more LWs as I can.

Any better way of doing it? I'm still tempted to dump the LW and DW right now and just suffer for a few games (at a lower TR so against easier opponents). As it is, I end up relying on them way too much - but I can't help it because with my inflated TR, I'm playing some nasty teams and really need them. Damn catch-22's... (same reason my linemen are underdeveloped).

Personally I would get to the postion where you are fielding full. The DW with 2 Nigs has to go soon but that last thing you want to do is be so totally outnumbered that your remaining players are taking more CAS because they are always short-handed.

Drop a reroll if you think you can afford it. Your plan seems good for me.

I would say getting to 11 players on the roster, let alone 11 on the field every game is a priority.

1) Dump a reroll - so you'll get a slightly easier match up.

2) Try to find another beat up ag team with a high FF for your next game.

3) Buy another player after this game even if you can only afford a lineman.

4) Replace the DW when you can afford to replace him. A double nig gives about 1/3 chance of him missing the game.

Good luck - I managed to rebuild a team that had gotten similarly clobbered in open (Orcs though), but I got lucky and had a team concede to me - 120K makes rebuilding alot easier.

Thanks all. I was basically looking for someone to talk me out of dumping both nigglers and just dealing with a few really tough games while I buffed up my linemen and raised cash to buy new LWs.

Mission accomplished. Now to replace some of these guys. Sigh.

Well, considering your luck (elf vs rats) in (we vs we) the (we vs he) past (dwarf vs zon), I'm not so sure. Dwarves vs Zons and only a BH? C'mon zy... I won't retire the team over a single BH ((3/1/0 vs 0/1/2 CAS record)).

I suppose there's always this little victory of yours (201 zons vs 110 flings). Should I make some new flings for you to retire instead?

God, I love stats. :P

Droping either Limone or Porto would give you 10k more income for your next game... droping both would give 20k more... with you back under 175 TR... down there having 8 players won't hurt so much, and you'll know that everyone will be turning up to play... also the SPP will get more spread around, and the MVP's won't be going to players you are about to retire anyway.

I'd be inclined to take the risk and drop them, and definatly try and find other beat up AG teams with high Fans...

After two or 3 games you'll be 175-180 TR and at that time i'd drop ONE reroll to again keep you below 175.

Pass me another Elf, Captain. This one's split.
