SemiFinals What to do? II

Post by Cooper »

In the other semifinals i am playing my ChaosPact team (end of this league, no more in the next year)

My team:
1 Ogre with Block
1 Useless Minotaur
1 Rookie Gutterrunner (the good one died recently)
1 Gobbo with pro and catch
1 ChaosWarrior with Block and Claw
1 Beastman with Block and RSC
1 Beastman with Block and Guard
1 Orcthrower with accurate
1 NorseBlitzer, PO and MB
6 Marauders (norse), 3Tackle, 1DP, 1Surehands, 1Kick, 1movement+

3RR, FF15, apo, TR 191

105k in cash.

I have to play either Dave with his HighElves (lot of AG5, leap, intercept) or a Full-rostered, but not so fully skilled Norse team.

what do i do with the money.
I plan to have enough to hire Morg in the finals...

long term planning is not in order; if i loose this is their last game, if i win: only the final to go.

Hire Nobla? (Frenzying Gobbo with Chainsaw)
hire a Wizard?
hire Morg now?
save money? why?

I would hire a wizard for the semis, planning to receive enough to hire Morg for the finals.

you like wizards hey?
:)
Why do you think it is better then the chainsaw guy?

On another level: rules: i haven't checked yet, but if you have Frenzy and a chainsaw, and chainsaw reads "instead of rolling the block dice"
Can you block, pushback and saw? in one go? I mean, can you saw as your second frenzy-block?

I would recommend freebooting a wizard, for turn-over potential.

Because against the best players, it all about "how do I play defense"? Offense is fairly straight-forward in most cases, but a wizard gives you MANY options for defense - Do you zap the ball carrier and try to pick up the ball? Do you crush the cage and then surround the ball carrier?

Standard offense is built around the idea of "The defense only gets one blitz per turn", and the wizard destroys that notion. Even having him in your hip pocket forces your opponent into strategies that they don't want to use (actually, a smart opponent will almost ignore the fact that you have the wizard, and just play their game).

So, yes. Especially in tournaments against the best competition, I like wizards - especially since with your FF, it looks like you'll probably get about 50k back and be able to buy something big for the finals.
