an Italian point of view

Post by Aramil »

I like a lot the fluff written by Ithilkir and also normal fluff, so I just modified a bit gken1 roster following my thoughts. 8)

Code: Select all

0-12 Halfline 6/3/3/8 - Catch @ 60k [G, A]
0-4 Runner 7/3/3/7 - Catch, Dodge @ 80k [G, A]
0-2 Leader 6/3/3/8 - Catch, Sure Hands @ 70k [G, A, P]
0-2 Blocker 7/3/3/8 - Catch, Block @ 100k [G, A]

Re-Rolls: 60,000
I changed the name of the lino becouse they're not man and I think that "Halfline" is unusual and more "fluffy" :P, but I don't know if in english it sounds well...
I used "Leader" instead of "Thrower" in order to respect Ithilkir fluff and I gave them Sure Hands instead of Pass for the same reason. That way those players are who play the ball and direct the game... At first I thought about calling them "Playmakers".. but it was too much basketball-inspired... so I decided for "Leaders"...
Always for fluff (I don't like to have the same position name for all the teams...) I switched from "Blitzer" to "Blocker" for the final role...

What do you think of that?

Ithilkir would like to know if I'd consider the team for admission to the MBBL2 ... something I might be willing to consider but I want something different if I do it. ... the all catch angle is of interest ... but I want to stay with the fluff that Ithilkir wrote (because well its good stuff). I think if you are looking to make something truely different you need to really base the team on what he wrote.

Code: Select all

0-12 Line-Helf 6/3/3/8 - Catch @ 60k [G, A]
0-4 Runner 7/3/3/7 - Catch, Sure Hands @ 80k [G, A]
0-2 Breaker 6/3/3/8 - Catch, Pass Block @ 80k [G, A]
0-2 Blitzer 7/3/3/8 - Catch, Block @ 100k [G, A, S]

Re-Rolls: 60,000
Concentrates the teams focus on a running game because based on Ithilkir's great fluff ... I just cannot see them having a player with throwing skills or PASS skill access. Changing Dodge to Sure Hands gives them 4 reliable runners who can pull off some very nice short range pass plays or a reliable handoff chain (along with making your fast players Strip Ball immune which is not something currently in BB (usually Sure Hands is reserved for the throwers)). Then change out Sure Hands for Pass Block and rename the player to Breaker ... these guys are the offensive play breakers. It makes sense with Ithilkir's fluff that the team would have two specialist to set up on the wide zones with this specialization. Finally to mix the Elf and Human Blitzers I gave the player AG and ST access to show the mix of heritages.

This team I would be willing to consider for MBBL2 admission ... thoughts?

Code:

0-12 Linemen 6/3/3/7 -- Catch -- 50k -- Gen
0-4 Runner 7/3/3/7 -- Catch, Dodge -- 80k -- Gen, Agi
0-2 Dumper 6/3/3/8 -- Catch, Dump-Off -- 70k -- Gen, Agi
0-2 Blitzer 7/3/3/8 -- Block, Catch, Pass Block -- 110k -- Gen, Agi

I prefer this roster. I would love to coach those blitzers, I have always beleived in building my teams with atleast 2 INT specialist. As it is my beleif that it is the biggest play in Bloodbowl. I would be interested in doing some testing of this team in a few weeks.

Looks good, only thing that concerns me however is the potency of a GAS player. I don't any players that have the GAS combo in MBBL2 so I can't see what they could endup like. Though with GAS I'd say they'd have to raise the cost to 10k, even with only two of them, they are still slightly underpriced having access to agility and strength skills... I dunno... Any thoughts?

I like Galak's suggestion of a team A LOT. I think it fits perfectly with the fluff given by Ithilkir to start with. Go for it.

Lots of Vampires in the MBBL2 ... all with GAS access. So far its not been an issue. Also not inclined to give the Blitzer the extra 10k ... catch is a nice skill but most the game its wasted that why all the players get it for 10k instead of 20k and the team's fastest player is only 7 so they don't have the blinding speed to drive the Catch skill to abuse.

For a normal league I really like the above roster.

Okay for the MBBL2 ... you need a Big Guy (unless you want to die early) ... all the team's have one. Fortunately, the MBBL2 uses Half-Ogres which are the result of Orc/Ogre breeding or in acts of wars Ogre/(Elf or Human) ... so having one of the team actually works out for the fluff too as an Ogre/Elf mix would need a place to play as the parent races aren't going to have anything to do with him. MBBL2 stats for Half-Ogres is 6/5/2/9 Big Guy, Thick Skull, Bonehead, 100k, GS.

Now the critical piece for me ... running the team through Pink Horror's spreadsheet.

A Human team with an Ogre has a power rating of 66.82 and a value rating of 47.40. With the Half-Ogre this team comes up with a power rating of 67.09 and a value rating of 42.61. Perfect for me. It means the team has a bit more (not much though) overall punch over a Human team (but its so close as to call it the same), but their prices compared to the skills they bring to the table starting and potential for the future are a little worse than Humans. Good enough for me.

Final things we need to work out for me to add the team to the MBBL2.

Spellcaster and weapons?

My recommendations:
Like the other Half-Breed teams in the MBBL2 ... have the spellcaster be a mix of the Human and other side. So they start with the Human Spell .... and I'd probably recommend the starting spell of the Elf team (not the High or Wood spell) if I had to pick ... fits the team and the fluff best.

For weapons ... I'd probably recommend no weapons. I just don't see this team bring Chainsaws or Daggers onto the pitch.

I'll try to type up a webpage for the MBBL2 later and see what you think.

Looks good overall and worth at least a shot at playtesting :) Butone thing.. Can we change 'breaker' to something more Blood Bowly? I'd prefer 'Defender' but that's me.

I'm with Defender... :)

Personally I like a lot the latest roster and completely agree with taking away the Passing skills access following the fluff... :D

I want to test it as soon as possible!

Ithilkir ... see what this does for you.

If you approve, I'll add it in to the HTML Creator and the MBBL2 database.

Added Half-Elf as a race to the database. Added them the HTML Creator as a team, posted the link to the website. You are all set.

To join the MBBL2, you need to post a request to this thread:

Just a little thing... tonight, when I was telling my girlfriend about the Half-elf team, she made me think about the line-helf position name.

In fact if a person read for the first time that role coud understand the "helf" suffix as "highelf", and not as "halfelf", cousing a bit of confusion...

and, especially, when talking and saying the position name I don't pronunce the H, so it becomes "Linelf"...

What about Linehalf, instead?

I know it's not a big problem... maybe it's not a problem at all... but we've been here talking in order to make it perfect... so I though that telling you my little doubt could had been a good idea...

Should just settle for Lineman ... makes it easiest ... ;-)

Galak

on the grand scale its not a massive concern and since he has already started playing his team ... I'm inclined for him just play it out for a bit.

But I do see where you are coming from.

I liked the original roster better - MA and AV 7 + catch seems more 'elfy' to me than 6 and 8... but that's just me.

Personally, I think that a 6/3/3/8 lineman with catch and access to agility skills is worth a bit more than 50k.
