Two doubles for Undead team

Post by JarkkoH »

Hi!

Difficult decisions again. Two player advanced during the last game and both rolled doubles. I could use some good traits, but these two players lack some basic skills. At least the Mummy needs block, but...

What should I get for Mummy and Ghoul? I was going to take Sure Hands to Ghoul, but then I rolled doubles. I've burned too many Team Rerolls for failed pickups, so I'm leaning towards Sure Hands here. There are also some teams with Strip Ball blitzers or wardancers in our league. Pass could be decent also, as I have another Ghoul with +AG that could act as a catcher then. But I don't know.

And Mummy was going to have Block, but doubles for him also. Frenzy could be nice, but without Block it could be bad choice. Against big guys he will be getting into trouble easily in the LOS, two dice against. Stand Firm is another choice, but then again, if he is knocked down it is not too helpful.

So maybe I should forget the traits now and take the skills (Block & Sure Hands) and hope for another doubles later. What do you guys think?

This is my Undead team at the moment:
Mummy: Block
Mummy: TRAIT/SKILL?

Wight: Block, Tackle
Wight: Block, Strip Ball, Tackle
Wight: Block, Guard, Dodge
Wight: Block

Ghoul: Block, Dodge, Side Step, +MA
Ghoul: Block, Dodge, Side Step, +AG
Ghoul: Block, Dodge, TRAIT/SKILL?
Ghoul: Dodge

Zombie: Kick
Zombie: Block
3 Zombies with nothing

Thanks for your help!

I'd give the mummy Stand Firm and the ghoul Sure Hands.

Mummy Stand Firm or Frenzy

Ghoul I'd probably give Accurate (to develop some sort of passing game), Nerves of Steel (for the same, but for him to be a receiver). Jump Up or Guard are also good choices.

Standfirm to the mummy. She will get block early enough and standfirm will be very usefull then. You can either try to doge away now for a blitz without risking a turnover.

NOS for the ghoul. With an ag4 Ghould you have a decent passer and the MOV8 Ghoul and a NOS Ghoul are two good receivers where your opponent has to think about.

sure feet on the mummy anyone?

Believe me, it WILL fail a GFI and burn RRs quickly. However, with an effective blitzing range of 4 squares and a block ( or standing up, moving one square and blocking), running away is no more an option for your opponents....and the cas will come in anyway, so don't worry about block too much for now.

Put fear into your opponents hearts and put them into asituation where they want to deal with your mummy. Then your gouhls say "thanks" and will score more easily because the defense is distracted...

I won some impressive titles in 198X, some more in 199X, even more impressive titles in 200X, some of them REALLY impressive, and a few even MORE impressive! Not to mention a lot of less impressive ones.

If you're going to keep the team for longer perioud use the doubles, if not then it might be good to waste trait for sure hands and/or block.

If you've only got a couple of re-rolls then play it safe with Stand Firm and Pass if I were you, but if you have enough re-rolls to try risky stuff then I'd go with Frenzy and Accurate. When I play Undead I find the extra Pass re-roll a little useless as I have four re-rolls anyway, so I'd go Accurate on doubles. However extra re-rolls won't help as much with Frenzy, which could be your undoing on many occasions but also slaughter the opposition if it works well.

Frenzy for both. The mummy is nasty with it, it'll rack up cas and scare people. The ghoul will be good for threathening to push people out - with Side Step he'll be complete. I always take Frenzy on the first ghoul double I get.

I have four Rerolls (and Trophy Reroll) at the moment, so I could take something more risky. And yes, I'm going to keep this team as long as possible so I won't waste the doubles.

With Ghoul I'll try some passing game so it is probably NOS or Accurate.

I like frenzy a lot, but if my Mummy is standing next to Big Guy I'm afraid that I'll be getting two dices against with the second block. Anyhow, it will be Stand Firm or Frenzy.

Thanks for your help! Keep those suggestions coming.
