Negative Winnings and tactics

Post by Mnemon »

I have brought this team forward before on the negative winnings issue, but now I have to face them in reality :)

http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team& ... am_id=5540

The team has no stars whatsoever, and had bad luck on the FF rolls. I could support them with regular winnings (quite a number of 0's in there) but I definitely won't be able to support them now.

Should I retire players? If yes, which (the Blitzer is pretty obvious, but appart from that) - or just try to go on and hope for some lucky FF and winning rolls, as well as hope for low injuries (not likely at that tr) until I can afford freebooting an apo regularly?

A Dark Time? What on earth is wrong with the team that you want to start culling players? 2 niggles is hardly the end of the earth and there isn't anything you can do about too little cash.

AFAIK div X isn't using negative winnings (or did I miss something?) so I can't see what the issue is. Dropping the -AG blitzer will get you another 10k for winnings, but TBH I'd wait until you've got enough money to replace him. In the meantime he can be your suicidal man-marker (to try to stop anyone else getting hurt).

DivX is using negative winings and freebooted apo now (see newspost on fumbbl), and loses ageing.

 Ah I missed that

Even so, I don't think you've got too much of a problem. Drop the -AG blitzer (he puts you down a bracket) and just don't spend money unless you've got ~30k more in the bank than you want to spend.

 I guess you don't roll ones like I do. I have rolled so many ones for nigglers that usually Niggle is another word for dead in my book and the reaction I feel when one actually shows for the game is...suprise. :-?

My advice, you have 14 players so dump a few permanatly injured ones and go to 12 players and save money for a blitzer. Getting rid of two players should bring you to -30 some odd TR points then dump a re-roll if you need to to get below 200 TR.

I would drop 12 and use 11 as your suicidal marker against Big Guys. I agree with Ian that you want to hold onto your money and never spend until you have 40k (30k plus 10 for your apoth) going into each game.

Buy your new blitzer when you can, then replace 11 when possible as well.

Basically, I second that.
Even so, you might want to wait with the retirement until a Lineelf gets Kick (btw: why would a Blitzer want Kick?). 8)

I would get rid of #11. Seems like Nuffles sacred number isn't so good. -AG blitzer is a waste of a blitzer slot IMO, need to get someone else kick though. Avoid any brutal games and I think you winnings will be fine but it will probably take a while to get another 100k for a new blitzer.
