My View on the LRB and third edition (longish)

yep Scipio, clearing a square for your cage is tactical for me too.
It would be to easy to say, i dont go up and wiat until the cage go around me and then i stand up and blitz the ball carrier. So i is tactical for me too

As far as cards go, I'm glad they're gone. They created instances where one player could outplay the opponent in every way, and even roll better dice on top of that, and still lose. This cannot be a good thing.

I have never played a game in third addition that I could say was dominated by cards alone (Thats after maybe 4 or 5 years of 3rd edition experience. Of course i have never in my life pulled a magic helmet either. If I get this card I think I will buy a lotto ticket the same day ). Maybe several factors put together but not just off cards. I don't think lucks role in the game has left. That was the point when I reported two of my losses due to multiple blitzes in the same game. If there were cards though it adds so much more to the game. One of them being another factor I might have better luck on to possibly counter bad luck on the kick off table.

Also, this season I have had the privledge of watching a truely lucky player who just started playing the game and has like a 6-1-1 record and the guy makes moves like "OK, I'll dodge here (into 3 tackle zones) and pick the ball up (in three tackle zones) and dodge here and here, then throw it!" with a dwarf runner. Normally i would say no way but he doesn't own his own set of dice! With 8 games under his belt I have witnessed three and can tell you that if you roll good enough you WILL win no matter how crazy the play is. Me I make my moves thinking what do I have the best probability to pull off vs. what I have to do to say score or move here. This guy just says "How many squares away is that?"

This is huge point, it doesn't matter where you stand on stalling as an issue, it was a total non-issue when you were holding a 10-30K at the end of the game card but it could not be seen.

Yah, to add to this I remember holding say like a money card or something I couldn't use and my opponent would go to pick up a model and I at the same time would go pick up one of my cards and read it. My opponent would also stop and stare at that dirty trick back staring right back at him and sometimes they would go for another model. Ahhh...the good ole days

It even worked on me because I would be thinking. Hummm...maybe he is holding a custard pie or something to cause a turn over so if I move this way I might be in a better spot to prevent him from capitalising. Maybe I should pick up the ball first instead of throwing some blocks.
