Specailist team
When I raised this possibility before I think I aproached it wrongly to get the response I wanted.
The team where every player is as good as possible in a balanced team at their job.
I think the thrower should have
mv 5 - enough to cover the field (just) but you need 2 to develope the best passing game
St 2 and AV 6 or 7 since they arn't supposed to hang around and get hit.
They could ahve passing skills only.
Catcher would be very like a woodelf catcher
Blocker Ag1, St 4, move 4 I think?
Blitzer - I'm not sure. I think Ag 3 so thy can have a reasonable attempt at ball handling and dodging but without the finess of ag4. St 3 for the same reason. It depends on what the "essential blitzer" is.
Full back/defensive saftey start with passblock and probably ag4

Thats definatly the sort of thing I was looking for. The linemen are perfect, the thrower is great, the catcher ditto. The blitzer is a great player but I'm not sure AV 7 makes for the best one. Perhaps the big weakness of blitzers is price, so make him av 8 and charge 120K for him?

Gortex - most throwers (almost all) are skilled linemen (stat wise) and the ones that arn't are very close to. Part of the point of this team is that each position is bad at covering for the others, so the thrower has to be somthing else.

It tastes broken.
But run the team balencer over it to see if it is...
But i'm begining to see how it might not be broken...
if an oponent takes out all [enter position here] then the team is crippled...
hmmm...
should we have some practice trials duff?
Perhaps TR 100, 3 games,
then TR 150, 3 Games
then TR 200, 3 games, to see if the get unbalenced at higher levels...
And also observe how they gain SPP's

Hmmm... I think a 7-3-3-8 Horns, Leap Blitzer might be better. Still costs out to 90k, and needs TWO stat rolls to replace a catcher, instead of one MA roll.David Bergkvist wrote:Code: Select all

That, or leave the Blitzer as is and give him General and Strength access, so that he can't get Catch or Dodge on normal skill rolls. Otherwise, I WOULD develop a Blitzer as a third catcher, which defeats the original team concept (position players who are great at their position, but can't play another position).
I'll run both versions through the old analysis spreadsheet and see what my proposals do. Back in 15 minutes.

OK, numbers crunched. If you want the full list of values, I'll post them tomorrow, but the original team was near the bottom of the LRB teams, and definitely not overpowered. My suggestions LOWERED the power of the team in both cases.
I am even more in favor of the 7-3-3-8 Blitzer now. It's too easy to make your fourth blitzer into a third catcher as is, in my opinion. Then again, my record as a coach says that my judgement is laughable.

Values are pretty simple to do. http://home.earthlink.net/~agentrock/pdf/pcost.htm (just for reference)
Using this pricing guide, your lineman cost out at 60,000. Throwers are 60,000, Catchers are 120,000, and the blitzer is a 120,000 player. If the blitzer's stat line is turned into an 8 3 3 8 as suggested, he prices out as about the same.
Strangely, the team resembles the Necromantic team most in composition.

I didn't think about the problem of allowing a blitzer to develop to a catcher.
However, I don't really like the AG 3 blitzer, since a blitzer that only dodges on 3+ and leaps on 4+ isn't very good at blitzing in my opinion. And it still allows him to do other things than blitz.
Here's an even more extreme team:
(M means they can pick physical abilities)
The fluff could be that there are two species: one that is mansized (the linemen) and one small two-headed type with mutations (the catchers and blitzers). The throwers would be the offspring between a member of the mansized species and the stunty two-headed species. How the tiny blitzers manage to get AV 9 is anyone's guess.

That's pretty interesting. The lineman and thrower still cost out at the same 60k, and the Catcher is still a 120,000 player. The Blitzer is a 110,000 player.
I'm pretty sure there's a guideline somewhere that says you shouldn't give a 4 AG to a stunty player. Giving them 2 heads and extra arms seems pretty much the same thing to me.
