Weird tournament

Post by berserker »

Hi

In 2 weeks I'll play in a tournament with slightly different rules

TR100
Stars allowed at regular price
Wizards allowed but you need cash for each game

Now the difference: you can pick 5 skills and give them to 5 non big guys players, you also get a double you can give to any non big guy player (so you can a skill and a double to 1 player)

My first tought is skaven since you can have a OTS (4GR, Headspliter, SV, 5 rats, apo)

Necromantic with Ramtut, Luthor and 2 werewolf seems nice too since you can take leader with the double and take better players

Chaos Dwarfs are nice as well... 2BC and Htark, freaky!

Any idea?

I'm not so familiar with the stars, I know griff and Luthor are popular

Luthor may not be the great buy you think - if you are playing the new nerfed Hypno Gaze.

Humans would still do very well (Zug is a bargain, Griff a superstar). Do you get any skills later on in the tournament? Or is 5 all there is?

Whatever you play you have to take Strip Ball as one skill (no SP has Sure Hands).

I noticed yesterday about the new gaze, before I didn't pay much attention as I never play with stars and only with official teams.

You get 2 skills after each game (3 games)

For the Necro team I was thinking
2RR 1FF
Ramtut
Luthor
1 werewolf Block
2 ghouls 1 sure hands, 1 strip Ball
8 zombies 1 Kick, 1 DP
And give Leader to a zombie so I have a third RR

For the Skaven
4 Gutter runners 1VLL+sprint, 1Kick, 1Strip Ball
1 Headsplitter
1 Stormvermin Strip Ball
5 lineman
1 Apo
2RR 1FF

Instead of making a boring one turn scoring Skaven, what about a defensive specialist....Leap and Big Hand..or..Block and Dauntless

If the ball is on the ground, it belongs to you

For a tournament setting they are making a big mistake - lots of Skav teams will take 1 turners, and without any death/MNG potential I'd expect them to do well.

I played a test match yesterday (alone, how sad  )

Necro Skaven 3-3
Necro was 1-0 up with only 1 turn left each in the 1st half (and they kicked), 4 skav on the pitch, 6 ko and 1 SI

End of the half 1-1 and all skavens were back for the 2nd half! A zombie was sent off by the ref and another KO not coming back so 10 players each.

Impressive!

For the format if you play skaven it would be plain silly not to take that powerfull scoring weapon...
Even if it is powergaming, but I'm not responsible for the format of the tournament...

Even worse the amount of TD scored (not the difference) is used if there is a tie so scoring is even more important...

There is still hope they fix that.

For the record I went with necro
Luthor (played well scored lots made passes)
Ramtut
2 werewolf with block
9 zombies -1 Block Leader and 2 dirty players-
2RR and the leader
1 FF

I won the touney
3-0 vs 'zons
6-0 vs humans, he was reduced to 4 for the 2nd half
3-1 vs humans

I was surprised with the prizes as I got a Rubris Hakarth and a resurection Gutter Runner!

I never thought I 'd have one and I don't know if I will keep it or not...

Very good day!

resurection Gutter Runner?

Post by Wanderer »

What is it? Is it and undead version of a skaven so undead can have more interesting zombie models?

it is a special gutter runner they gave at the Blood Bowl tournament 2 years ago... It is a collector item.
