I just won our local league-ending cup with Darkelves. League consisted of around 25(?) teams of all sorts (teams play 12-15 games). And i even had some deaths in the last rounds of the cup.
I allways use my Witches as players that can mess up the opponents structure (or to push out players if they are not careful). Their Frenzy is extremely good. They both have block and sidestep now, and one has tackle. I think using them as catchers is leaving their main strength (Frenzy) unused. Ofcourse there is no problem IF they are in scoring position to use them to score...with AG4 and dodge they are very capable of that...
Ofcourse my view might be blurred a bit by the fact that i was lucky enough to get 3 guardinglinemen.

I have lost a lot of boring games using the normal dodge 1 square-elf-strategy. Now I have found that if you try something realy "insane" every once in a while, and at least once every half, then you will start winning a lot more games. Make the opponent know that the ball is never safe no matter how good a cage he makes. Try imposible dodges, etc. Dont over do it or you will end up loosing by a large margin. The advantage is that he will end up covering the ball much more than objectivly needed so that he dont have the manpower to hit you hard.

No rules about that. Often I dont even burn a RR if I miss a difficault action early. Lets say you gotta make a 2+ dodge, then a 4+dodge and a one dice block to succesfully knock the ball loose. Lets say you miss the first dodge. Then I'm not sure I would burn a RR cause chances are still not too good I'll complete the mission of knocking loose the ball. If I succesfully made the dodges but failed the last block however, I would use RR.lightingbug wrote:Do you do these insane things before or after your RR's have run out?

Agreed, this tactic works very well (at least against me). I am not someone to try stuff that is against the odds, but it often works against me, because i don't anticipate it. I won't change my tactics though, it is just that i have lost many TD's exactly to this tactic. I must add that indeed shouldn't overdo it. i have won most off those games anyway, because they just kept on trying...and they failed a lot of other times.Rupert wrote:I have lost a lot of boring games using the normal dodge 1 square-elf-strategy. Myself i will only try things against the odds if i really don't see other options and i need it to win.

I played last night. My wood elves vs orcs and I got battered. I only had 10 men to start and no WD all line elves. He had 4 blitzers and 4 black orcs plus line orcs and thrower.
In offence It was easy to score however a couple of bad rolls resulted in turnovers giving the orcs possession. At which point the orcs formed a cage and I tried a couple of times to break it but no luck, at one point I had 4 players on the pitch. I tried to slow him down which worked o.k. and I also kept away as much as possible. In the end it was 2-1 to the orcs. Having no WD was a big problem however I now have the money to purchase one, I also gambled with my apothecary and did not use it in case of a death though he only caused a miss next game casualty i consider myself lucky. Humans are my next opponents and I only have 10 men against his full squad.
