Broken
I am new to blood bowl. i currently play with a dark elf team but as we speak a dwarf team is winging its way towards me, havna read about dwarfs much i just like the miniatures, imagine my horror as my i start to read phrases like Dwarfs are broken. i know they are slow its just after playing with an elven team i fancy beating the Bahoolies out of a few teams, dwarfs may be broke but can they still put hobnail boot to lycra clad ass ?

Re: Broken
Absolutely! I won a tournament last season with a dwarf team. And they are on top of this season's tables too. They all have block, except for runners but they earn points fairly easily, cheap re-rolls and an alchemist.Tigerfrogg wrote:I am new to blood bowl. i currently play with a dark elf team but as we speak a dwarf team is winging its way towards me, havna read about dwarfs much i just like the miniatures, imagine my horror as my i start to read phrases like Dwarfs are broken. i know they are slow its just after playing with an elven team i fancy beating the Bahoolies out of a few teams, dwarfs may be broke but can they still put hobnail boot to lycra clad ass ?
Especially as a new team they are great compared to other starter teams.
But as the other teams also start developing, it gets more difficult, since you're fairly dependant on the runners as the troll slayers and longbeards have AG 2. And blitzers only have MA 5.
But they are still a very good and sturdy team, in my opinion.

Dwarfs are not broken, they are well balanced in terms of strength, not too strong, not too weak. They are however, pretty extreme in terms of tactics, one of the slowest teams in Blood Bowl (second only to Khemri) and without access to a single STR4 player, but skill laden and ready to rumble from day one.
This makes Dwarfs challenging to coach, but also to encounter, they are unforgiving for mispositioned players and general overcommitment to a certain area of the pitch. They need to take their time until they get to score and this is considered boring by some of the opponents (just don't listen to them ...).

Can't add much more to what Tim said, just a validation that he is on the mark.

I haven't played Dwarves since third edition but they were one of my favorite teams and I have fond memories of them.
They are a good team, just be patient with them and don't expect to score too quickly.
Once they start to pick up a few Guard skills on the longbeards they can be a potent bashing force despite all being 'only' ST3.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

Personally I find it fairly easy to beat Dwarves, they are so one dimensional. If you want a bashy team I think they are as good as any, but don't expect to win many games.

Kick deep and force them to toss the ball before the clock runs out. Add a pass blocker or two and then yell "Hoowah" everytime you pick him off or the stuntfellows miss a pass.
Perhaps you need to get kick fairly early. When it comes to n00b teams dwarfs are one of the best.
