Get the Ref
Just posing an idea for 'Get the Ref' in tournament play to see what other people think
Ok, background. My second game at the Pearly Kings and Queens Tournament was V Christian Burnett (ChrisB) and his Norse team. First kick off roll of the game was 'Get the Ref' and he won the roll. He had also given a one of his team Dirty Player as the skill from the first round.
He promptly put 4 of my players in the dead/injured box in the first half though fouling.
he took a 2-1 lead. In the second half he gave me every (long) chance to level the score but with so few players it was asking too much.
Now I doubt that the 'Get the Ref' result changed the overall outcome of the game (I'm not that good!) but it was very demoralising to see all those players go off the field like that made the game not very enjoyable and any hope of a come back unlikely.
So finally to the proposal.
Get the Ref should only last for the drive not the half in tournament play.
It is often the case that Riot and Pitch Invasion are reduced to D3 from D6 as this helps tone own the extreme results they can dish out. This would be a similar toning down of a rule to allow general play rather than a kick off roll to influence a game.
I also don't think this would hurt the players who want to make maximum use of the roll and 'put the boot in' as they can delay scoring and foul, but at the risk of not scoring if things go wrong.
So what do people think?

Re: Get the Ref
If your playing against dwarves aor the like and they are receiving then that'll be the whole half anyway.Emberbreeze wrote:

It would be better if Get the ref changed to read something like. "As soon as the Gotten referree spots the infringment from the side who have Got the Ref, then he lets the first one slide however, from now on he will send of the next one he spots.
This means it will only save the team form the first spotted foul, after that they are off.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
