Alternative Chaos Pact Roster

Post by Mirascael »

The Caos Pact roster is definitely broken under the current rule set. Nevertheless, I have always been a great fan of the Chaos All Stars and prettified our city with quite some CAS-graffitis when I was young, so I'm just curious if the following roster would be balanced:

0 - 16 Chaos Marauder 6 3 3 7 Block, G 60k
0 - 2 Chaos Mutants 6 3 3 8 G, Phy 60k

RR: 90k

Big Guys:
0 - 1 Ogre
0 - 1 Troll
0 - 1 Minotaur

Allied races:
Orc, Skaven, Chaos, Goblin, Dark Elf, but no norse (belong to the lustrian roster)

Even though the team now has more AG 4 access due to the dark elves, the price for the linemen should make it really difficult to get a roster containing developed players of all allied races and big guys. Similar to wood elves, the team should struggle to keep a full roster if it tries to max out the positional players. Would the suggested roster be balanced provided that big guys had no access to general skills?

Hi Mirascael,
IMO this isn't balanced. The problem is the 3 big guys - which is the same problem that the "official" roster had.
You may think me insane, but I think I could get good result with this team without the allies. I.e. just the norsemen, beastmen and 3 big guys. IMO, this means that something is wrong.

Cheers

The problem with this is that it is the bashy team of all time - with a MV 9 AG 4 gutter runner. It would be virtually impossible to stop the one two turn score against these guys. The team would just have it too easy... :)

IMO, a Chaos Pact roster would look alright as something like:

Code: Select all

CHAOS PACT
0-12 Linemen         50k   6 3 3 7  Block  {gen}
0-2  Chaos Warriors  100k  5 4 3 9  -  {gen, str}
0-1  Chaos Dwarf     70k   4 3 2 9  Block, Tackle, Thick Skull  {gen, str}
0-1  Dark Elves      70k   6 3 4 8  -  {gen, agi}
0-1  Skaven          50k   7 3 3 7  -  {gen}
0-1  Orcs            50k   5 3 3 9  -  {gen}
0-2  Goblins         40k   6 2 3 7  Dodge, Stunty. Right Stuff  {agi}
Rerolls = 80k
1 Big Guy from Ogre, Troll, Minotaur.

If you wanna make it more like the Chaos All-Star list and less 'overpowered' just replace the norse linemen w/ gobbos and limit to 2 big guys

This would mean that noone in your league will want to take the standard gobbo roster though.

Hi again Mirascael,
I think that if you want to stick with the 3 big guys then everybody else has to be linemen. IMO, position players and 3 big guys don't mix.

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, this team is just overpowered and the concept itself makes it very hard not to be. It does not make sense.

IMO, the base mechanic (2 linemen er 1 pos.) is a good one.
the balance depends on which races, how many, and the number of big guys stacked on top. Particularly the quality of the available linemen has a huge impact.
We've managed to create an Old World based mixed team that we are quite satisfied with.
It can be done :)
