ideas on treeman skill development

Post by crunked1 »

i play using an oldworld pact team- i have a treeman of course. Well there natural powerhouses if they can show up. Anyway i was just wondering if anyone out there would give me ideas he's a 2/6/1/10 standard skills with block. Only used for LOS head bashing. skill increase advice welcomed.

Guard, then Break Tackle and Tackle I'd suggest. Don't like Multiblock too much, especially if I can have a 3-dice-block instead of a risky 2-dice-block. Tackle later because old world players will develop enough Tackle anyhow.

Then you play by outdated rules obviously.

Breaktackle is a cool 'out of the bag' move as you dodge him twice into 2 TZ's on two 2 ups before a GFI blitz... your opponents don't think about that one generally...

but apart from that... passblock...

it's really unsettling to the oponent... and he won't fail over on a failed dodge...

A break-tackle-tree is great for kickin the cage. Dodge into 3 TZs is still only a 3+ (without a risk since you have stand firm) and then you have ST 6 against the ball-carrier. Even with guard at both corners that´s still a 2die-block on the ball.

So an interesting build would be:
Block, Break Tackle and Tackle/Strip Ball
On doubles:
Frenzy (2nd hit on the ball)
Dodge (rerolls the dodge)
Sure Feet (gain additional movement)
Sprint (same as above but only wise, if you have a leader)

i just got back into playing again a downloaded the lrb 3 rules and found out about the new piling on disaster. it would have been great for a strength 6 treeman. what a shame. break tackle sounds good but a MA increase would be nice

Thats such a shame esp for Norse.

Id like to see another, more effective, attempt done at Pile On. Like, just off the top of my head, a piling on player may +3 to his AV roll. That would hold back the Mummies without nerfing Norse and make it significantly better than MB if your prepaired to end up on ur ass. Or even if he fails the first AV roll he can pile on, Reroll AV +1 but pecomes prone.

Well actually that with Mighty Blow is still a pretty good deal for Norse.

I have a treeman with Pro(it was that or a +1 AG) because I really needed a reroll(if you throw a halfling with the ball, you don't want to fumble your starplayer and watch him die!!
