Well, one of the most dreaded matchup for my TR 200 khemri is... DWARVES! (besides orcs and chaos dwarves perhaps)
It's not as if khemri would field 11 mummies or so, apart from the mummies there will be 2 AV 8 blitzers and at least 5 AV 7 players. The dwarves, loaded with tons of Guard and Migthy Blow in comparison, own khemri easily from my experience.
I also never saw the difficulty (and the need) for levelling up my longbeards. With Block Tackle they always get 6 SPPs easily (even without MVPs) and I'm constantly able to field almost an all-Guard team even at a rather low TR. And do you want more skills on them anyhow? I'd say no. One kicker, one or two dirty players perhaps, but apart from that longbeards with Guard are powerhouses already that allow you to keep your TR low and benefit tremendously from handicaps. Mighty Blow at 16 SPPs is just an extravagant luxury for them IMO.

I'm afraid to say that Dwarves and Khemri both bore the pants of me Playing with or against. Having tried a dwarf team for about 10 games in one on-line league i can safely say they are the most uninspring team i've yet to play with. Any other play except trying to grind out 2-1's, means its game over. As for khemri, they are evn duller. The severe lack of MA on any of the teams leads to a completely undesirable style of play. I hate playing with em and against em. Beating them is not a problem but there is just no originality. Khemri on offense try and take out as many opposition as possible. Defence, well they have none
. So try and take out as many opposition as possible.
Playing against Khemri. Tie up Mummies with High AV or cheap linemen. Ag Skeletons can dodge nowhere.
Playing on offence against khemri. Well Tie up Mummies and.... Well just score.
Ok i know its not that easy, but they are little other options.
YAWN, sorry nearly fell asleep.

I to am a seasoned dwarf coach and have constantly petitioned to get the BIG GUY back. I play league games only and have no interest in tourney play. I wish the BBRC would seperate the two but they haven't. In any case, I am extremely disappointed to loose the Ogre (now I have a nicely painted paper weight) which gave us a needed Strength boost to the team during the mid and high TR of league play. The Dauntless players, although helpful, just cannot compete at AV 8, since a normal Strength 3 player can take them down so they are not even available to go against the strong players.. Maybe the simple solution is to leave the roster as is and just make Slayers ST 4 and and loose Block. Then they will at least be able to stand their ground against all but the Big Guys. Of course, just giving us the Ogre would fill the niche, but I would love 2 ST4 players so I can compete against Khemri, Lizards, and Chaos in the high TR brawls of league play.

Munkey, I was referring to the Vault changes, none of which disadvantage the dwarves in any way. Getting secret weapon positionals, plus all opposing Big Guys getting severaly nerfed, plus freebooted apoths, plus getting Wizards back.... all of this is MORE than enough compensation for losing the Ogre. Plus they're even talking about twinking Piling On again. Dwarf coaches are never happy.

It was only intended as semi-serious.
I agree that Dwarves don't need an ogre, never really thought they did. I just thought your post slightly implied that the elves needed the treeman, they really don't IMO.
I think the real problem with the dwarves is not that they're underpwered but as Dark Lord has pointed out that the team is so boring to develop. There's hardly any real skill choices for most of the players.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
