Double 5 for starting DE lineman
I've just started out with a DE team and after the first two games have lost my blitzer (killed before I could get the apo) and just earnt enough spp for the first two linemen to get skills, one rolled a 7 and the other a double 5. What do people reckon the best choices are? The money in the bank needs to pay for another lineman so I can at least start with 11 players, so still no doc for a game or two.
I figure that the first lineman gets block but I'm less sure about what to do with the second. I thought it might make sense to plan for the long term and get him something like Guard to go with the Block/Dodge combo that he'll earn later. Or is it best to stick with the +1MA? Currently there is only a witch elf left on the team with a 7MA.

It's a tough one. I think you'd be surprised how effective +1 MV is. Guard is a useful skill too though. I would be tempted to take the MV, as on an otherwise unskilled team such as yours, one player with Guard can get lost. The MV will greatly increase the overall speed of your team once you get a full roster too.
IMO Block is a vital choice for your other lineman. Another option would be Kick, but with your only blitzer dead, I don't think you have much choice but to take Block.

I'd take Kick for the lineman - that way you have such control over where the ball goes that your opponent will have to spend more attention on protecting the ball that he can spend less resources on beating up your restricted resources.
I'd also buy the apoth before getting a replacement... you cannot afford to lose any more players and it's good practice getting used to playing with 10 anyway!
I think I would take the MA increase on the other lineman. Increased speed is always useful for a DE team, and the difference between MA6 and MA7 is somehow huge.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I went with Guard in the end as I'm hoping to get position players for the speed gains in the long run. Guess time will tell if it's the right choice:)
Didn't realise exactly what dauntless did, I'll be looking to get that soon!
The other lineman got block, the teams a bit of a shambles without the blitzer so hopefully this will help bolster it.

Line-elf 1: Kick
Line-elf 2: Block
Line-elf 3: Guard (double

Blitzer 1: Dodge
Line-elf 3 second skill: ST+1... goes nicely with the Guard he already has!
The only problem has been the two dead line-elves obtained during the first two matches. I am now back up to 10 players (3 blitzers, 7 line-elves + apoth) but it'll probably be 2 more matches at least before I have 11 available.

its gotta be guard.
dont waste a doubles roll on a normal skill, and leave ma for your blitzers and witches. ma will not help you as much as guard will at this stage. right now you need to survive games.
ive played about 20 games with my current team and have been unlucky enough to roll no double for my lime elves. boy am i feeling that.

I had 3 doubles sprinkled in amongst the skills for my linos. The first 2 got Guard (1 dead now
), and the 3rd took the +1MA. Then the 3rd rolled a 2nd Double, so he got Guard as well. Helps nicely to assist my AG5 Jump Up Blitzer and my MA8 Blitzer.
Now, if only my Mighty Blow WE would learn how to knock people over!
