What about making "Magic Helmet" a general trait ?

I thought this would be better served in House rules, as it is up to you Toby. +1 to AV for a general trait rather than as a magic item which would be available for use by anyone including those without general skill access.
Halfling/Goblin and Skink coaches may not like the idea.
How would you sell it though in terms of fluff?

it is up to you
I love some of the effects of the cards and as I understand it the BBRC are looking at finding a way to bring some of that flavour back in.
Personally we use the On-pitch Spellcasters from the MBBL2, they are racially diverse yet all have conjure which can produce a magic item on a 3+ for your team once a game. You can still only cast in your own turn and the spell guy can earn Spp's like everyone else he suffers from -1AV but can get magic helmet to balance it out. We love them so far.
Check them out, they add a sense of fun to a lineman who can do things no one else can, it also means that the opponent has to remember which guy it is. Some of the racial spells are quite good for turning moments of the game.

i am sitting over the permantent starplayer system (that will be brilliant
) and theres no way to create a +1AV that is compatible to LRB.
So i removed all +1AV from the stars. The Rule is called "Magic Helmets removed" but i am not quite happy with it. +1 AV would be a good way to waste a star player roll on a Star...
can you give me a hint about the new secret weapon system ? i would like to remove secret weapons from stars (that means from the star player rolls)

if People are so much against Star Players that would effectively be Skills accuired by money, how would they like Items that would do the same ? effectively giving you skills and player characteristics in exchange for money ?
I think money should be in the game, as should stars, purchaseable items, special plays, and secret weapons.
Buy a Star that gives you a Blitzer with 2 Skills
Buy a Healing Scroll that gives you an extra Apothecarie (one use)
Buy a Magic Helmet that increases one players armour.
Why not ?

In my local league we've house ruled a player to be allowed a choice of purchasing a Magic Helmet on a skill roll of 11 for 40,000 GC, instead of taking an agility increase.
Fluff wise I'm not sure- how about this;
"The player develops an increase in his agility, but instead of taking this to the Blood Bowl field, he uses it for less ummmm..... legal purposes, and follows a wizard to his residence, waits till nightfall/wizard to leave, and burgles his house."
Sort of made that up on the spot, sounded ok though
