A D8 wild animal suggestion

Post by lineman »

As I have said before, I really don't like the current wild animal rule. This is a (completely?) different rule. I don't know whether it's a good rule, as I haven't tested it, but it's, well, different.

If you declare a block action for a wild animal, the animal will do it as normal. But if you want a standing wild animal to do anything else (including blitz), roll a D8. The wild animal roars, and turns to the square in the direction shown by the D8 and the scatter template. If this is an empty square, the animal will walk to that square (does not have to dodge). This count as if it has moved one square. After this uncontrolled, wild move, you can use the animal as normal.
But if the square indicated by the D8 is occupied by a standing player, the animal must block him, no matter what team he belongs to. The animal cannot do anything after he has blocked, and the team looses the declared action for that turn.

I don't know what should happen if the D8-square is occupied by a stunned or prone player. Automatic foul will be to bad, I guess. Maybe nothing should happen in that case.
