How viable are Khemri as a tournament team?
Well, the heading really speaks for itself - are Khemri totally hopeless in a tournament environmnet (no lasting harm done - teams are brought back to starting condition at the start of every match)? Their main strength seems to be their resilience and ability to inflict harm which is lessened in tournaments.

Not at all. I saw them take Gumpta in 5 games without being scored on. Starting roster is very important - go with 4 mummies, 2 Blitz-ra's and ignore the Throw-ra's. Get a Blitz-ra Sure Hands first, then build up the Mummies and get a sprinkling of Dirty Player on the Skellies. Very scary to play against.

What would be a good team set-up then?
Four mummies and three re-rolls, quite obviously but besides those? Blitz-Ras are usually extremely important to the Khemri, but they sort of need those Sure Hands to score and they cost an arm and a leg for their abilities. Thro-Ras OTOH have only the Sure Hands going for them... And then there is the possibility of taking a fouling skeleton armada and just hoping that come second half the opposition is so depleted that even skeletons can carry the ball to the end zone...

Khemri as a race did rather well at the BB'04. I'd consider taking this for next tourney with this team:
4 Mummies
2 Blitz-Ras
1 Thro-Ra
5 Skeletons
2 RR
2 FF
At the BB, I had scratched the Thro-Ra for another RR (mainly because it was unconverted and unpainted) and only 11 players. Taking 12 players enables more efficient use of the Dirty Player skill. The Khemri need to get an advantage numbers-wise early in the game. I used Blitz-Ras to carry the ball last time, but will probably switch to the thrower and get him Block as 1st skill. With only 2 RR the Mummies need block more than when I went with 3 RR. Considering all this and taking the BB'04 rules pack into account, I'd probably select these skills for my team:
Thro-Ra (Block), Skeleton (DP), Mummy (Block), Mummy (Block), Mummy (Block)...
4 Mummies
2 Blitz-Ras
1 Thro-Ra
5 Skeletons
2 RR

I think most of you (or maybe me) missed the question asked.
Are they a good team from the start? (Reset team after every match)
I say most good players would kick a khemri team with another team.
No block on the mummies make them as dangerous for yourself as for the opponent. Hardly any ball handling and no fast (really) players.
The best tournament teams in such a fashion would be the not so extreme teams. Human, orc, elves (of any kind), skaven, chaos dwarves, dwarves, well most other teams, even undead is better.
Well.... at least as I see it.
