Belatedly catching up here...
Glad that the originals are going to be preserved, agree with others here in that regard, in fact I'd be vehemently opposed to anything 'destructive'.

As regards matching painting styles, it's probably a non starter. Did a player for a human team of Longfangs prior to the BB (DFC was borrowing the figs and needed the extra position player). It's pretty close as a match with the rest of the team, and I guess that the layman or even most of you guys would be hard pushed to pick which of the team was painted by a different painter, but to me and Del the subtle differences in style are glaring. The All-Stars are Phil's work, and so the originals should remain. Good decision.

'Replica' figures are a damn cool concept. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if a fig was available as 'based as closely as possible on the classic and unique fig X'. That way the original retain their history, paintjob and uniqueness, whilst collectors will be happy (I believe) for a chance to get hold of their own 'replica' Phil Lewis' All-Stars.

I believe there are numerous people on this board equipped to do the necessary conversation work, and it'd be an honour for anybody chosen to do one too. The way forward I believe, kudos and respect to Narkotic for the suggestion! 8)

So here is the decision.

The true originals will be left completely untouched ... I'm actually pleased to see this decision as its what my gut was telling me was the right idea.

I'll try to produce one Chaos All-Star a year if my budget allows. We'll do it based on conversions from source materials.

A couple of these conversions I can do myself in fact. I'm not great but not bad at conversion work and a couple of these do not look that difficult.

As for getting these figs into market. Based on the Vault rules ... I'll need to be picking up 3 more Zaras, another Luthor, about 14 Thruds etc to have a full team of each type. I also am missing the new Shadowforge Human team and the coaching staff from the SF Elf team from my collection as well .... So I think they'll definitely be trade figs available. I'll probably also use them to help me get prizes for GenCon each year as I currently pay about $300 of my own cash (over the money that I get from the entry fees) to run GenCon. So if I can get some of that expense offset that's cool as well.

I also gave out one of the Alien Blitzers to EVERYONE who came to the Memorial Mayhem tournament ... that will teach all you guys who blew off that tournament ...

Okay we have a plan ... sounds good. I'll trade some Aliens to help get the remaining figs I need to start this plan into action.

I, too, my friend, am just catching up to this thread:

a. completely support the decision to keep the originals intact and uncopied, and would have strongly counseled against any other course;

b. I for one will be happy to support the effort financially - we can talk more at GenCon...

Good stuff as usual, Tom!

So I've always like the 'Snake' Sanders miniature for a couple reason.

1) He last name is so close to mine.
2) I like Snakes
3) I think the Hypnotic Gaze skill is fun and I'm really looking forward to it being a mutation again as it is in the Vault now that we balanced it out.

So I go look at the C27 Snakemen to try to decide which head was used.

Image

And I decide that head is 90% either S'Sirron Fangthrane or S'lon Life Smasher ... with really heavy odds on Life Smasher.

So ... I think ... man its going to take forward to find those two figures. I think we have the Lord's blessing on this project ... because I just found this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 73432&rd=1

Which has BOTH of these guys in it ... AMAZING luck!

So I haven't asked for a Gentleman's agreement in about 2 years ... so if anyone had seen this auction or sees it because of this post ... please hands off. These guys are going to become a future Blood-bowl.net figure ... so keep away ... please ... ;-)

Okay so other than that head we have not yet
identified ... Alien Blitzer to the first person who
figures out its origin ... I don't think its green
stuff either.

I need to trade alien blitzers for the following
figures to start work on this project.

All of these should be unpainted, unbased,
figures. I don't care if they do or do not have
damaged hangtags.

Figures needed (some of the stars may still
be available in archive ... I didn't check)
1) Bilerot Vomitflesh
2) 2nd edition Skaven Catcher #1
3) 2nd edition Skaven Lineman #6
4) Lewdgrip Whiparm
5) Wormhowl Grayscar
6) 2nd edition Human Lineman #1

My guess is S'Siron, because you don't need to greenstuff a neck for him. I already made some investigations: Virtual Alchemist has him for 10US$...

I'm making up my mind on the other head, I've some guesses. More tomorrow when I have more time.

Well I got both of those snakemen, so if I can get a better pic of Mr Sanders from a couple of angles I'll be able to give you a 100% certain answer :)

(Btw Tom, I got a spare Wormhowl, though I already have an alien blitzer so any chance of one of the new BB.net mins? :) )

I'm willing to trade 1 of the next figure I make instead.

The next figure should be going to the caster by the end of the month and it will just have to be a surprise which one I've decided to do today.

Talked with the caster and expected completion by end of December/early January.

I might have located that head from Constrictor Atlanson but I'm not 100% sure as the chaos all star mini has it's head in an odd angle and the strange paintwork is deluting as well. So call it 85% certainty:

http://www.solegends.com/citcat88/0212rocthugs.htm

an old Chaos Thug, the one with the club, bottom rowm, the most left one (=lower left corner), he is pictured sideways but he could be our candidate - hair, mouth, chin seems to fit. You can't make out on the photo if he is showing his teeth which would be the ultimate proof. What do you say Galak?

not sure about the snakeman heads... had all the snakemen and gave most to a mate (guess 10years ago). now he has made a similar chaos all star team based on the side in white dwarf. cant say 100% but sure none of the snake heads are the correct one from the conversion.

edit

yep was the head of a snakeman. c series figs the way forward

I'm not looking for perfect matches necessarily.
As close as possible would be cool.
